Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you’ll build

We help the world run better by creating an environment that embraces differences, values flexibility, and encourages innovation. You will join a caring, collaborative team with strong development opportunities, recognition for your contributions, and a variety of benefits. We are building a new SRE team focused on K8S Unified Gateway Services, and in this role, you will directly influence the reliability, performance, and security of critical services.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you act as a role model and multiplier of best practices through your technical expertise and soft skills. You actively share knowledge, help develop your colleagues, and introduce tools and practices that improve system insights, performance, and reliability. You will support a proactive approach to incident management and contribute to reducing risk of failure. Your work includes leveraging AI/ML capabilities, applying modern security standards, building automation and observability, and collaborating closely with global development and cross-functional teams. You will also take part in an on-call rotation during live-site situations, supported by a dedicated compensation package.

Your key focus areas will be:

· Building and maintaining automation, observability, and reliability foundations

· Driving proactive incident management and operational excellence

· Collaborating across global teams to deliver commitments and organizational impact

What you bring

You have a solid technical foundation and experience as a Senior DevOps or SRE engineer, along with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related area. You are comfortable working with Kubernetes, cloud architectures or platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and you understand virtualization and distributed environments. Your knowledge of network fundamentals - including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/2, TLS, NAT, VPNs, and firewalls - helps you navigate cloud-native systems effectively.

You have experience with tools such as Git, GitHub, Terraform, and Postgres, and you can program in Python, Bash, or Go. You understand CI/CD approaches using technologies like Jenkins or Concourse. You bring awareness of cloud security topics such as identity and access management, authentication, certificate management, and malware protection. You work efficiently in critical situations, analyze and solve problems quickly, and maintain a strong sense of ownership. You are a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and fluency in English.

Your essential strengths include:

· Experience with Kubernetes and cloud architectures

· Hands-on work with automation, observability, and CI/CD tooling

· Strong problem-solving abilities in critical and complex environments

· A proactive, collaborative, and continuous-learning mindset

Nice to have: Experience with Linux/Unix, PKI and cryptographic applications, application-level attacks, or Agile environments.

We know from experience that not ticking every box on the skills sections stops many from applying. Please apply regardless of your self-assessment - we want to hear from you! We have seen people succeed with a diverse range of skills and experiences.

Where you belong

You will join a newly formed, globally distributed SRE team operating from Bulgaria (Sofia), Brazil (São Leopoldo), and China (Shanghai). Our culture is based on knowledge sharing, collaboration, positive attitude, and respect for each team member’s strengths and individuality. We treat challenges as opportunities to grow, learn, and succeed together.

In this team, you can expect:

· A culture based on trust, learning, and open collaboration

· Global teamwork with strong professionals across three locations

· An environment where challenges are viewed as growth opportunities

If you’re excited by a rapidly evolving cloud-native ecosystem and want to help shape the future of our services, we would love to hear from you.
