Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you'll build

About the Organization: The Corporate Processes & IT (CPIT) organization is responsible for evolving and executing SAP's IT strategy. We drive the internal adoption of standard applications that support end-users in the execution and re-engineering of their processes across all lines of business, with a strong focus on end-user centricity. Our objective is to accelerate co-innovation with development and extend the use of SAP standard products within SAP -- shifting focus from maintaining a heavily customized environment to optimizing processes on top of standard services. By combining technological understanding with business know-how, we act as the earliest adopter of our own solutions and the ultimate proof point in SAP's transition to a cloud company.

About PP&S: Product Processes & Solutions (PP&S) is an L2 unit within CPIT responsible for driving portfolio and process transformation across SAP's product organization. Our ambition is to give SAP the fastest, most AI-driven product lifecycle in the industry. We operate across three delivery areas -- Engineering & Technology, Solution Support, and Cloud Operations -- and we are accountable for translating strategic direction into operational reality at scale.

About the L3 Team: The PP&S Portfolio & Financials team is one of two cross-functional units created to operate across all PP&S delivery areas. We drive portfolio processes, ensure business excellence, implement continuous improvements, and realize the benefits of cross-unit efficiencies. Our key activities span Solution Financials and Staffing, 3rd Party Workforce Management, Portfolio Steering, and Risk Management. The team works in close partnership with PP&S unit leads and acts as the operational backbone that keeps delivery transparent, financially sound, and strategically aligned.

The Role: Reporting into the PP&S Portfolio & Financials unit lead, the Senior Expert – Portfolio & Financials is a dual-scope role at the intersection of financial operations and portfolio management. This person works as a close peer to the team's senior financials expert, forming a complementary partnership: together, they cover the full breadth of the team's mandate, with this role carrying particular responsibility for connecting financial rigor to portfolio-level visibility and steering. The role also operates in close coordination with the PP&S Chief of Staff, supporting cross-unit transparency and ensuring financial and operational topics are surfaced and addressed at the right level. This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable in the numbers and in the strategic IT portfolio conversation - and who understands that in a unit like PP&S, the two are tightly connected.

Key activities:

  • Co-own PP&S financials operations alongside the team's senior financials expert, covering budget planning, cost controlling, actuals tracking, and variance analysis across all delivery areas
  • Drive portfolio steering processes for PP&S - maintaining visibility into the portfolio, tracking progress against priorities, and preparing portfolio-level reporting for leadership
  • Manage Solution Financials and Staffing processes, including headcount cost transparency, staffing plan alignment, and capacity tracking
  • Oversee 3rd Party Workforce management operations, including Fieldglass, Ariba, and related procurement and controlling workflows
  • Maintain risk tracking and escalation processes for financial and operational risks across PP&S units
  • Prepare integrated financial and portfolio reporting for the unit lead and PP&S leadership, ensuring decision-relevant insights are available at the right cadence
  • Support the PP&S Chief of Staff on selected cross-unit topics, providing financial data, portfolio context, and ad-hoc analysis to inform leadership decisions and executive-level communications
  • Identify and drive continuous improvements in financial and portfolio processes across the PP&S Portfolio & Financials team
  • Build and manage relationships with key counterparts in Finance, HR, Procurement, and PP&S unit leads to ensure smooth operations and early issue resolution

What you bring

  • University degree in business administration, finance, business informatics, or a related field; master's degree or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience within SAP, ideally across multiple board areas or CPIT-adjacent functions
  • Strong command of SAP's financial and workforce management processes and systems, including Ariba, Fieldglass, BWP, and ISP
  • Proven experience in portfolio management or PMO processes, with the ability to connect operational detail to strategic-level steering
  • Strong analytical capabilities -- able to translate complex financial and portfolio data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating in a peer partnership model, contributing a distinct perspective while maintaining a cohesive team front
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage at leadership level and across organizational boundaries
  • High degree of ownership, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams without losing precision
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus
  • Work experience: 5+ years of experience spanning financial operations, controlling, or portfolio management - preferably within SAP and across multiple units or board areas; prior exposure to product engineering or CPIT environments is a strong advantage
