Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you`ll do:

Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Agile Coach & Release Train Engineer (RTE) who combines strong leadership in scaled agile delivery with a deep understanding of lean-agile principles. In this hybrid role, you will coach teams and leaders while orchestrating complex program execution, ensuring alignment, predictability, and continuous improvement across our global organization.

The Role:

In this role, you will drive the adoption and evolution of agile ways of working across multiple teams and programs. You will act as a servant leader and facilitator for Agile Release Trains (ART), supporting planning, execution, and delivery while fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with Product Management, Product Owners, and engineering teams to maximize value delivery and business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Release Train Engineer (RTE) for one or more Agile Release Trains, facilitating program-level events and execution
  • Coach teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and leadership on agile principles, practices, and mindset
  • Facilitate Planning Interval (PI) Planning, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and other key ART ceremonies
  • Drive alignment across teams, managing dependencies, risks, and impediments at the program level
  • Promote continuous improvement through metrics, retrospectives, and lean-agile best practices
  • Support backlog management and prioritization in collaboration with Product Management and Product Owners
  • Establish and monitor program-level KPIs (e.g., predictability, flow, quality, delivery performance)
  • Act as a servant leader and escalation point, helping remove organizational impediments in a global team setup
  • Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and high performance across cross-functional teams
  • Guide the organization through agile transformation initiatives and scaling frameworks (e.g., SAFe or similar)
  • Ensure alignment between business strategy and execution, enabling value-driven delivery

What you bring:

  • Degree in computer science, business, engineering, or a related field
  • Proven track record as an Agile Coach, Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master, or similar leadership role in scaled agile environments
  • Strong experience with agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Scrum@Scale) and scaling agile practices across multiple teams
  • Proven ability to facilitate large-scale planning events and cross-team coordination
  • Strong understanding of lean principles, flow metrics, and continuous improvement practices
  • Experience managing dependencies, risks, and stakeholders in complex environments
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong leadership mindset with the ability to influence without authority
  • Experience working with engineering, product, and business stakeholders
  • Fluent English and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset

Nice to have but not a must

  • Certifications such as SAFe RTE, SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), or equivalent
  • Experience with digital transformation or large-scale organizational change initiatives
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD concepts
  • Experience in AI/ML or data-driven product environments
