Job Description:

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is responsible for leading and coordinating Agile delivery across the M365 Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring alignment with enterprise transformation initiatives including OneDDC and Perseus.

The role acts as the chief facilitator, delivery leader, and escalation point for the ART, enabling teams to deliver value predictably while ensuring strong planning cadence, dependency management and alignment with PMO governance and the OneDDC Agile Strategy and Operating model.

The RTE will work closely with Product Management, Scrum Masters, the PMO, and senior stakeholders to ensure consistent, high-quality Agile delivery at scale.

Core duties:

  • Lead the M365 Agile Release Train by facilitating and coordinating delivery across multiple Agile teams within the ART, ensuring alignment to shared objectives, priorities, and outcomes, while acting as the central point of coordination across teams, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Lead PI Planning and establish a consistent delivery cadence (PI, sprint, reviews) that ensures clear objectives, alignment, and visibility of dependencies, risks, and impediments, while aligning ART delivery with PMO planning cycles and governance requirements
  • Identify, track, and manage cross-team dependencies while proactively managing and escalating risks and impediments, ensuring transparency through programme and governance forums, and driving resolution of blockers across teams and stakeholders
  • Coach and support Scrum Masters and teams to promote consistent Agile ways of working, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, and enabling teams to become self-organising and outcome-focused
  • Act as the bridge between Agile delivery and PMO structures, ensuring alignment with governance, reporting, and funding processes, supporting Agile-aligned reporting, and contributing to the evolution of the PMO towards Agile ways of working
  • Monitor and improve flow metrics such as velocity, throughput, and lead time to enhance predictability, identify systemic bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement while supporting incremental, value-driven delivery
  • Ensure ART alignment with Digital Enablement Office standards, support integration with One DDC and Perseus transformation initiatives, promote consistency in roles and ways of working, and contribute to scaling Agile practices across Enterprise IT

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in a Release Train Engineer, Programme Manager, or senior Agile delivery role
  • Knowledge of M365 or digital workplace technologies
  • Experience managing complex, multi-team delivery environments
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery, Scrum, and Kanban practices
  • Experience in enterprise IT transformation programmes
