This position is responsible for the execution of North America Payroll processes and transactions according to documented procedures within the P&C Global Service Delivery Organization. This role supports payroll operations by ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations.
As part of the P&C organization, this role collaborates closely with P&C Stakeholders, Finance, external vendors and employees to address payroll-related matters and ensure consistent payroll delivery. The position also serves as a subject matter expert for payroll operations, providing guidance on complex payroll inquiries, supporting payroll system enhancements and identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls and mitigate compliance risks.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process and review multi-state U.S. payroll to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Ensure accurate flow of payroll postings to the general ledger
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax regulations
- Monitor legislative changes that may impact payroll processes and compliance
- Ensure accurate reporting of wages, tax filings and year-end reporting including W-2 forms
- Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll inquiries and escalation
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies and tax-related issues
- Support payroll system implementations, upgrades and integrations
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to increase accuracy, efficiency and control
- Document and maintain payroll procedures and internal controls
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless payroll operations
- Test system changes, enhancements, and upgrades by designing test procedures, defining test scenarios, and executing testing to resolve issues and strengthen process controls
- Prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain focus on high priority items while managing multiple demands in high pressure situations
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 5 to 8+ years of experience in U.S. payroll processing
- 5 to 8+ years of experience with U.S. state and local payroll tax regulations, including compliance and reporting requirements
- Experience with SAP IPP preferred
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Finance or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) from the American Payroll Association is preferred
- Demonstrates a high level of professional maturity and sound judgment
- Strong customer service and orientation, with the ability to effectively support employees and internal stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 100000 - 216000(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
