Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you'll build

You will help build and operate secure-by-design infrastructure platforms that protect SAP SuccessFactors systems, data, and customers at scale. This role blends hands-on infrastructure security engineering with active participation in security incident response, making it ideal for a security professional who enjoys both designing strong defenses and responding decisively when threats arise. In this role, you will:

  • Design, review, and support secure infrastructure solutions across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Perform security design reviews for new platforms, services, and significant infrastructure changes
  • Apply and evolve security architecture standards, patterns, and guardrails that enable teams to deliver securely and efficiently
  • Partner closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, and DevOps teams to provide practical security guidance and influence design decisions and Project executions related to Security.
  • Embed identity-first security, including IAM, PAM, least-privilege access, and Zero Trust principles, into infrastructure and cloud designs
  • Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and vulnerability management, prioritizing remediation based on risk and business impact
  • Ensure infrastructure configurations align with industry standards such as CIS benchmarks, NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and similar frameworks
  • Support secure automation through Infrastructure-as-Code and cloud-native security controls
  • Coordinate penetration testing and red team activities, translating findings into meaningful and measurable security improvements

You will also contribute significantly to security incident response, including:

  • Acting as a responder during security incidents, supporting investigation, containment, and recovery
  • Analyzing alerts from SIEM, EDR/XDR, network, and cloud security tools
  • Performing root cause analysis and contributing to post-incident reviews and corrective actions
  • Supporting threat hunting, detection improvements, and incident response readiness
  • Developing and maintaining incident response playbooks and runbooks
  • Participating in tabletop exercises and simulations to continuously improve response capability

Your work will directly strengthen platform resilience, risk reduction, and customer trust across SAP SuccessFactors

What you bring

You bring a strong foundation in infrastructure security, paired with curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • 6–8 years of experience in infrastructure security or security engineering, with hands-on exposure to security incident response.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows systems
  • Strong understanding of networking and network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation)
  • Experience securing cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and cloud security architectures
  • Proven ability to participate in security design and solution reviews
  • Working knowledge of:
    • The incident response lifecycle
    • MITRE ATT&CK and common attacker techniques
  • Experience with security tooling such as:
    • SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar)
    • EDR/XDR solutions
    • Vulnerability scanning and management tools
  • Practical understanding of IAM concepts, including RBAC, PAM, and least-privilege access
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and how they apply to infrastructure and cloud environments
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain risk and influence outcomes without relying on authority

Nice to Have (Not Mandatory)

  • Security or cloud certifications (CISSP, CCSP, GCIH, AWS/Azure Security, etc.)
  • Experience with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) activities
  • Automation or scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Proficient in writing Splunk SPL queries and creating dashboards for monitoring and analysis.

Where you belong

You’ll belong to a collaborative security team that believes security is a shared responsibility and works closely with engineering and infrastructure partners to enable secure innovation.

Day to day, the culture is pragmatic, respectful, and outcomes-focused. Team members are trusted to take ownership, ask questions, and continuously improve how security is designed and operated.

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Enjoy balancing hands-on technical work with cross-team collaboration
  • Are comfortable operating in both design discussions and live incident scenarios
  • Value learning from incidents, feedback, and evolving threats
  • Appreciate diverse perspectives and inclusive teamwork
  • Take ownership of your work and outcomes, seeing projects through from concept to impact

Growth & Development

  • Exposure to large-scale, global platforms and real-world security challenges
  • Opportunities to deepen technical expertise across infrastructure, cloud, IAM, and incident response
  • Support for continuous learning, certifications, and career development within SAP

What makes this team special is a shared commitment to building secure, resilient systems that customers trust, while fostering an environment where people can grow, contribute meaningfully, and do their best work.
