What you’ll build:

We are looking for an AI platform operations engineer to join our growing AI Infrastructure and Operations team. In this role you will be provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting infrastructure enabling scalable and responsible AI solutions developed and deployed across multiple platforms. Our infrastructure is maintained as code, version controlled and deployed in an orchestrated fashion.

The successful candidate will join a fully-fledged agile team with mature technical leadership and established good engineering practices. You may own infrastructure

components or platform-specific solutions in close collaboration with your peers who will be reviewing your work and guiding you to the optimal solution in terms of best practice, security, automation, and observability, while mindful of the inherent tradeoffs in delivering business outcomes.

As the infrastructure you own will be running business-critical AI- and data engineering workloads, you will be in daily contact with SAP-internal stakeholders and clients, servicing requests via our support channel(s) subject to defined SLAs.

Key responsibilities:

• Collaborate with technical leadership on component architectures, security concepts, work-item refinement
• Deliver infrastructure as code towards defined backlog work items assigned to you
• Review your peers' work, providing constructive feedback in accordance with established best practice
• Monitor the established AI Infrastructure & Operations support channels and service infrastructure provisioning / troubleshooting / general requests in line with defined SLAs
• Own platform infrastructure components, including the necessary architecture- and security approval processes
• Participate actively in system reviews and regular retrospective sessions, providing constructive feedback towards the continuous improvement of the team's processes
• Keep abreast of developments in infrastructure as code, security, observability, and platform operations

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, and/or relevant professional experience in infrastructure and operations
• Excellent knowledge in TCP/IP, Linux, containerization, virtualization, Kubernetes
• Excellent knowledge in cloud technologies (Azure preferred but AWS or GCP welcomed)
• Experience with CI/CD automation (Jenkins and/or GitHub actions)
• Demonstrable skills in system design, development, and observability
• Understanding of security design concepts and their integration into system architecture
• Proven experience in infrastructure as code, preferably delivering cloud-based services (Terraform preferred)
• Good command of high-level programming and scripting languages (Python, Bash preferred)
• Systematic, structured and logical approach to identifying root causes; can-do attitude
• Proven experience in a technical support function (L1/L2/L3), with a strong service mindset
• Working knowledge of agile product delivery
