Job Description

Job Title: Software Engineer
Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE
Location: Remote or Hybrid (London)
We’re Pod – one of the UK’s leading EV charging providers, trusted by over 250,000 customers and powering more than 5 million miles every single day. But behind the numbers is a team of passionate people working together to shape a smarter, more sustainable future.

We started off in 2009 as Pod Point, helping people make the switch to electric as EVs began to hit the road. Today, we’re leading the way into a smarter energy future. As part of the EDF family – the UK’s biggest generator of zero-carbon electricity – we have the strength and stability to grow for the future.
And we’ve started that growth already. In 2026, we welcomed EO Charging into the Pod family, bringing together Pod’s strengths in home, workplace, public and smart charging with EO’s specialist fleet and depot charging technology. The acquisition significantly expands our commercial fleet and energy management capabilities. Together, Pod and EO are helping logistics, transport and operational fleet customers electrify at scale, optimise charging performance and make better use of existing grid capacity.
Pod is the next evolution of Pod Point. As electrification becomes everyday, Pod is here to help build a brighter future for society by managing the flow of energy, making it affordable, accessible, and for the benefit of everyone. With 250,000 customers already trusting us to be at the heart of their EV life, we see Pod playing a leading role in the UK’s increasingly electrified future. Our focus is on powering not just homes and vehicles, but local communities and social progress.

Pod is here to help build a brighter future for society by managing the flow of energy, making it affordable, accessible, and for the benefit of everyone.
You’ll be a mid-level engineer working on the core systems that power Pod Rewards, including orders, subscriptions, rewards, payouts and the APIs that tie it all together. This role sits at the heart of the platform, where reliability, scalability and thoughtful engineering really matter. You’ll work closely with product and the wider business, take ownership of features end-to-end, and help shape systems that the rest of Pod depends on!

  • Write high-quality, maintainable code - You’ll demonstrate strong, sustainable and collaborative engineering practices, producing readable, well-tested and maintainable code and supporting artefacts
  • Own solutions end-to-end - You’ll independently define the right solution for a given problem, reusing or adapting existing approaches where appropriate, and taking responsibility from design through to delivery
  • Champion quality and testing - You’ll ensure the high quality of delivered solutions by writing and maintaining unit and integration tests, and contributing to the pipelines that support them
  • Contribute to team and community - You’ll actively participate in team ceremonies and wider engineering community events, sharing knowledge and learning from others
  • Support the growth of others - You’ll help junior engineers and new team members find their feet through mentoring, pairing and constructive feedback
  • Invest in your own development - You’ll work with your line manager to identify opportunities for growth, building depth in your craft and expanding your impact over time

  • Solid engineering fundamentals - A good understanding of object-oriented principles, design patterns, API design, event-driven architecture and distributed systems
  • Modern development practices - Experience working with agile and lean approaches, CI/CD pipelines and test-driven development
  • Collaborative approach - Comfortable working in agile teams, open to feedback and continuously looking for ways to improve how you work
  • Clear communicator - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas clearly
  • Curious problem solver - A proactive mindset, eagerness to learn and a genuine passion for developing your engineering craft.
