Own, Grow and Transform Key Categories at Pets at Home!

At Pets at Home, we're passionate about creating products and ranges that help pets and their owners live happier, healthier lives. We're looking for a commercially minded Buyer to join our Trading team and play a key role in shaping some of our most important Food product categories.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of and / or support a significant area of the business, such as Dog Food, Health or Seasonal. You'll work with leading brands and suppliers, develop compelling product ranges and help deliver outstanding value and innovation for our customers.

About the Role

As a Buyer, you'll be accountable for delivering sales, profit and category performance across your area of responsibility. You'll build strong supplier partnerships, lead commercial negotiations and develop category strategies that drive growth across both our stores and digital channels.

Working closely with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing and Own Brand teams, you'll help ensure we offer the right products, at the right price, at the right time for pets and the people who love them.

The role offers hybrid working (two home working days per week) from our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire

Key responsibilities will include;

• Developing and delivering category strategies that drive sales, margin and market share growth
• Managing relationships with key domestic and international suppliers, negotiating trading terms and promotional activity
• Identifying product and market opportunities to strengthen our customer proposition
• Managing branded and own-brand product ranges, from concept through to launch
• Monitoring competitor activity, pricing and industry trends to inform commercial decisions
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver successful product launches, range reviews and seasonal plans
• Using insight, data and customer understanding to optimise category performance

About You

You'll be a commercially driven Buyer who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys delivering results through strong supplier partnerships and customer-focused thinking.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

• Previous experience in a Buying role, ideally within FMCG, grocery, food, health, seasonal or other consumer product categories
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships
• A track record of delivering sales and margin growth
• Experience developing and managing branded and/or own-brand product ranges
• Excellent commercial awareness, analytical skills and attention to detail
• The ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships across multiple teams
• Experience working across both store and digital retail channels
