About the business unit


We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and​ advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

Overview of role

Position Locations: Liverpool, UK / Birmingham, UK / Croydon, UK / Reading, UK

We are looking to recruit a Business Management System (BMS) Coordinator to support our Metros & Civils (MNC) division. You will be supporting the Divisional BMS Director and the Unit BMS Manager and ensuring compliance with Group BMS standards. The role involves collaborating with project teams during client audits, monitoring monthly BMS compliance, and facilitating mandatory training. You will have overall responsibility for the promotion, monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the Group’s Business Management System from a divisional perspective.


The core responsibilities will sit within 4 key areas:

Audits and certification:

  • Overall support & facilitation of internal auditing for the MNC division
  • Support the Divisional General Manager, the Divisional Operations Manager and BMS Representatives during surveillance and certification audits by the group’s certification body
  • Liaising with and supporting various project teams during client audits or other third parties
  • Attending meetings and coordinating responses to corrective action requests and certification body audit findings, including providing evidence demonstrating the corrective action taken


Performance:

  • Promote continual improvement in the application of BMS, seek areas for business improvement and give support to new business initiatives
  • Monitor MNC Division BMS compliance including mandatory training each month and liaise with the project teams to ensure divisional and unit compliance targets are met
  • Ensure all MNC staff receive relevant BMS training via internal training dashboard
  • Help prepare bi-annual BMS performance reports, incorporating all BMS data related to current projects and review performance reports to identify opportunities to improve


Communication:

  • Attend bi-weekly Unit/Divisional BMS meetings, monthly metronome meetings, and bi-monthly MNC BMS meetings, and record meeting minutes and actions
  • Support the Divisional BMS Director and the Unit BMS Manager to promote continuous improvement in the management of BMS on projects throughout MNC’s Principal Accounts
  • Communicate changes to BMS, along with advice on their implications to working practices


Management and reporting:

  • Support the Divisional BMS Director in preparation of monthly updates on BMS performance and analysis of trends and issues
  • Support the Divisional BMS Director in the preparation of the Divisional Board paper relating to compliance to the requirements of the Group BMS
  • Help prepare the annual BMS Review, provide input specific to MNC’s compliance
  • Assist the Division on the development and maintenance of Local Business Instructions, which are used to supplement the requirements of the Group BMS System
  • Monitor and maintain Divisional BMS records using the MNC BMS SharePoint team site

Candidate specification


We are looking for an experienced BMS Coordinator / Manager with a proven track record in coordinating internal audits and enhancing management systems. Your background will highlight successful collaboration with project teams, ensuring compliance across all BMS requirements. You will have overseen and delivered relevant BMS training. You will play a key role in the preparation of performance reports, identifying trends and recommending improvements within the BMS framework, so a keen analytical acumen would also be beneficial.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, and competencies:

  • Proven experience in coordinating internal audits, demonstrating proficiency in scheduling, facilitating, and responding to queries related to BMS
  • Experience in preparing performance reports, analysing trends and identifying areas of improvement within the BMS framework
  • Strong background in monitoring and ensuring compliance within the BMS requirements, including a track record of achieving and maintaining compliance targets
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience in attending and recording minutes for various levels of BMS meetings
