Legal Compliance Officer
Location: London/Hybrid
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent - Salaried
The Legal Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the global Business Ethics & Compliance team and wider Legal Team. The role is crucial for supporting Team Legal with timely updates to internal and external reporting obligations, conducting legal research and drafting legal documentation, monitoring internal investigations procedures and driving efficiencies around key data compliance processes.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Provide administrative and legal support to the Group Legal Director, BE&C/Group DPO and Team Legal
- Maintain compliance documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, CLM, DSAR logs), ensuring organisation, version control and access
- Coordinate compliance/legal operations meetings, training and reporting cycles
- Update and create content for SharePoint and Viva Engage pages to keep tools/resources current
- Support the Risk Control & Compliance Forum: schedule meetings, take minutes and manage actions
Project Management and Legal Updates
- Support compliance projects (e.g., CLM): manage plans, stakeholder inputs, comms, Phase 1 data upload and leadership reporting
- Maintain the Legal calendar to ensure timely policy reviews, communications and project updates
- Horizon-scan regulatory/business changes; research and draft compliance reviews to operationalise legislation
- Draft legal documentation with Regional Legal Directors and DP/Compliance Managers
- Support the Corporate Legal Director on development/implementation of global legal policies and training
Compliance Management
- Own and manage the DSAR process, meeting statutory timelines and escalating complex requests
- Maintain DSAR processes to regulatory standards, incorporating new legislation (exemptions, confidentiality, redaction)
- Provide compliance support: operationalise legislation and draft frameworks/contractual requirements (DP, IP, consumer, competition, employment, ABC)
- Support global compliance matters as required
Legal Operations
- Track completion of legal tasks (e.g., policy and training attestations)
- Oversee the investigation case management system: triage, coordinate investigators and escalate issues
- Prepare KPI and business management reports to agreed cycles
- Create and maintain monthly reports and dashboards for the Corporate Legal Director
- Respond to internal legal queries and refer complex matters to the appropriate team member
Qualifications & Experience
- Experienced Paralegal or NQ Solicitor (+2 years PQE) essential
- Prior experience in a legal and compliance environment (in house or private practice) essential
- Legal qualifications desirable if not a practicing solicitor
- Familiarity with managing data subject access requests and a legal and operational understanding of Data Protection legislation
- Experience in using Legal tech (CLM’s, investigation management and OneTrust/other applicable platforms)
- Experience and an understanding of legal operations including planning, tech management, data & analytics and knowledge management
- Knowledge or legal risk management and compliance lifecycles
