As Senior External Communications Manager - Brand PR on the Mars Wrigley UK team, you are responsible for communications planning, narrative development, copy writing & messaging, media relations, visible leadership, and groundbreaking Brand PR, to further our business objectives and build the reputation of Mars in the UK. You will report into the Corporate Affairs Director for the segment and will assist them in executing excellent external communications for Mars and our brands.

  • The successful candidate will have creativity in abundance, a strategic mind, an excellent stakeholder manager, a flair for storytelling, and a media savvy mindset. You must have extensive External Brand PR.

    Highly strategic in both corporate and brand PR, we are looking for a personable and collaborative candidate with a passion for corporate affairs that has mastered internal and external stakeholder management. The successful candidate will have their finger on the cultural pulse, have a growth mindset and will be comfortable thinking outside the box. They’ll also be calm in a crisis and be able to provide quick strategic counsel and guide teams through their thinking.

    We’re looking for someone who has press office experience in a fast-paced media environment and knows the landscape well and is comfortable speaking to journalists and other external stakeholders. But above all, we’re looking for a transformative character with a leading ‘can-do’ mentality.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Press Office: Staffing the Mars Wrigley UK Press Office handling media enquiries in a timely manner with our corporate PR agency.

  • Brand PR: Working closely with our local marketing teams to execute brand PR with excellence. We are looking for someone who can provide strategic advice, creative ideas and delivery of Brand Communications in support of our brands, product launches and campaigns.

  • Corporate PR: Strategic development and delivery of proactive external communications aligned with business strategy.

  • Issues and crisis: Daily strategic counsel on Mars issues and opportunities, guiding our brands and business through any issues and storms and always looking for proactive ways to future proof the reputation of the UK business.

  • Visible leadership: Work with our leadership team, specifically our general manager to build out their presence in UK media.

  • Media training: Confidently media train our internal stakeholders for external engagements

  • Media Management: Engaging with key journalist, media and influencers as needed in support of segment, corporate and brand reputation goals.

  • Agency Management: to support strategic direction and smooth running of day-to-day partnership and engagement.

  • Strategic Counsel: Be the go-to counsellor for Mars Associates needing advice on external/internal issues. Regularly forecast any future issues coming up in the pipeline and help create strategies to protect, enhance and/or accelerate business objectives.
