At Mars Snacking, we are on an ambitious journey to rewire and almost double the size of our business by 2030. We see digital and data as an increasing multiplier of value across not just Mars Wrigley, but also the Health and Wellness and Retail global business units of Mars Snacking.

With this in mind, we recently established the Chief Data Office (CDO) Organization to define and execute the enterprise data, analytics, and AI strategy for the company. In collaboration with our various Global Process Experience Owners (GXOs), Regional Champions and CIOs, Functional Business and Digital Technology Leaders, and Global Business Services teams, we will establish robust data quality practices, effective operating models, evolve data and AI literacy, and implement durable technology capabilities to govern our data as an asset from end to end. The CDO organization will serve as an accelerator to our Mars Snacking’s next generation of data-led AI journey.

The global director of enterprise data & AI governance and quality is part of the leadership team of the Chief Data Office Organization within Mars Snacking. In this pivotal role, the global director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust data governance practices, ensuring data quality, compliance, and alignment with business objectives. The role requires a combination of leadership, expertise in data governance, and a commitment to driving continuous improvement in data quality and stewardship.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business analytics or related major with equivalent business experience. MBA/Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven 15+ years of experience in large scale program management with focus in data management and business transformation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with various data governance, catalog and quality tools such as Collibra, Informatica, SAP, BigID, and/or Microsoft Purview
  • Leadership experience establishing data fluent organization through data governance capabilities.
  • Data transformation experience within the Consumer Products & Goods industry is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in designing and delivering effective data governance and quality training and change management programs.
  • Experience building Power BI, Tableau, or similar for executive dashboards and reports.
  • Expertise leading agile product management and working with scrum teams.
  • Experience engaging with technical and non-technical audiences to understand their priorities and related data skill needs.
  • Experience working with all levels of employees from entry-level to senior leadership.
  • Experience working at Big 4 consulting firms is a plus.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the stakeholders and develop strategic vision for data and AI governance program, including alignment on business objectives, new ways of working, and administration of data policy for adherence and implementation across Mars Snacking enterprise.
  • Program Management: Under the guidance of the CDO, lead the Executive Data Sponsorship Steering Committee and Data Governance Council meetings. Track and report progress on operating model effectivity, KPI monitoring and value capture scorecard, resource approvals, and escalation triaging.
  • Support D30 DD2S mega process: Partner in a “two in the box” model with the Global Process Experience Owner (GXO) of Digital Discover to Scale (DD2S) to provide data and AI related stewardship and delivery for Digital Technologies.
  • Enterprise Data Quality Capability: Drive data quality factory-as-a-service capability to certify data and analytics assets across data systems landscape of Mars Snacking. This includes all data source systems, subscribing systems, analytical apps, AI models, cloud, and on-prem technology ecosystem.
  • Enterprise Data Search Capability: Introduce enterprise data search capability to bring to life “trusted and timely data at fingertips” for all associates and consumers of Mars Snacking. Enable democratization of data with one-stop-shop marketplace for enterprise data, analytics, and AI assets and maintain a durable data catalog with business glossary and technical data dictionary.
  • External Data Acquisition Governance: Manage governance & quality assurance of externally acquired data, including sourcing, risk, licensing, privacy & legal aspects in partnership with appropriate support organizations within Mars.
  • Data Access Controls Governance: In partnership with the CISO, CPO and General Counsel, assess and orchestrate data privacy, security, and access controls to ensure every associate has ‘right access to the right data at the right time’
  • Responsible and Ethical AI Governance: Represent data governance maturity metrics at the Responsible AI board and offer best known methods to ensure AI models and underlying data is managed responsibly and ethically adhering to the Mars Snacking data policy.
  • Records Retention/Information Governance: In partnership with the Privacy Office and General Counsel/Legal assess the baseline, design and execute plan for effective data retention and records information governance.
  • Enterprise Data, Analytics and AI (DAAI) Literacy: Define and deliver Enterprise Data, Analytics, and AI (DAAI) literacy roadmap. Partner with the global experience owners, functional leaders, P&O, and Mars University to establish a Mars DAAI academy and roadshow focused on Mars Snacking segment covering D30 and S4 ERP data literacy needs.
  • People Management: Lead, recruit, and retain a team of data practitioners reporting directly as well as dotted line from other groups. This includes mentoring, coaching, and providing guidance for a durable data culture at Mars Snacking as well as cross-segment across Mars Inc.
