Here’s the scoop - Summary

The Portfolio and Category Manager is responsible for overseeing the health, growth, and profitability of the company’s product portfolio.

This role leverages advanced analytics to monitor business performance at the product level, identify opportunities and risks, and drive strategic recommendations for portfolio optimization.

The Portfolio and Category Manager partners closely with cross-functional teams—including Innovation, R&I, Sales, Finance, and Marketing—to ensure data-driven decisions that align with
business objectives.

This role will be based in our Flatirons, Colorado office and work a hybrid schedule with 3 days in-person.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Analytics & Performance Monitoring

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) for each product, including revenue, margin, market share, and customer engagement.

  • Analyze product-level financials, sales trends, and market data to assess portfolio health and identify underperforming or high-potential products.

  • Conduct scenario analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning and resource allocation.

Market Trends and Competitive Landscape

  • Serve as subject matter expert within Category team regarding market trends, leveraging Mars and Champion CMI data, and insights.

  • Regularly monitor in-store brand and product launches; collect and aggregate observations from Field teams.

Strategic Portfolio Management

  • Lead regular portfolio reviews with senior leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations based on analytics.

  • Evaluate new product proposals and business cases using quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Recommend product rationalization, repositioning, or investment strategies to maximize portfolio value.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Innovation and R&I Managers, Sales, Finance, and Marketing to align on portfolio goals and performance metrics.

  • Support go-to-market strategies and product launches with data-driven insights.

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices in portfolio analytics across the organization

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify and implement process improvements in portfolio analytics and reporting.

  • Stay current with industry trends, analytical tools, and best practices to enhance portfolio management capabilities.

  • Mentor and support team members in developing analytical skills and business acumen.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Economics, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in portfolio management, business analytics, product management, or related roles.

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel).

  • Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.

  • Proven track record of driving business performance through analytics and crossfunctional collaboration.

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, resultsoriented mindset.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
