The Corporate Affaris Director is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive public affairs strategy aligned with Mars’ business objectives, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Commercial, Finance, Marketing, and among others. The position focuses on Public Relations, Internal Communications, Crisis Management Sistainability, and Consumer Care.The position reports to the Mars Petcare Mexico General Manager and would serve as a member of the Mexico Petcare Leadership Team.The Director participates in the regional and segment Corporate Affairs communities.
What are we looking for?
Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in government relations, policy- related legal practice, and/or in central government. Also needed experience in managing the communications area.
Fluency in spoken and written English;
Proven diplomacy and advocacy skills to effectively handle relationships with government officials
Ability to develop and implement strategies to secure support from key government agencies and regulators relevant to the technology industry;
Proven leadership, interpersonal and consensus building skills;
Strong ability to work in a team environment.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Develop and implement strategies to strengthen Mars’ relationships with government officials, regulators, and stakeholders, minimizing risks from non-compliant regulations.
Support supply chain and management teams to leverage tax and trade agreements for sourcing opportunities.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on Mars and crafting strategies to mitigate risks and maximize competitive advantages.
Influence legislative and executive bodies through trade associations, issue coalitions, and direct lobbying efforts aligned with business objectives.
Secure economic development incentives from government agencies to support business expansion and new location projects.
Build and maintain relationships with federal, state, and local officials, as well as key business associations, to facilitate effective lobbying and advocacy.
Ensure all engagements comply with federal and state ethics laws, Mars Code of Conduct, and corporate values.
Lead Mars Petcare Mexico’s internal and external communication strategies, collaborating with the Leadership Team and senior management.
Align resources, including CA staff, agencies, and budgets, to deliver effective communication programs.
Foster dialogue across all organizational levels to enhance associate engagement and promote Mars’ values.
Develop internal communication tone and messaging for senior management, providing coaching and consultancy to stakeholders.
Design and execute communication tactics that support business goals and improve associate engagement.
Manage local external communications and proactive public relations efforts.
Coordinate risk management processes related to communications, including issue tracking and business continuity planning.
Oversee media communications and develop strategies to positively influence the business environment.
Train and advise Mars executives and senior managers on media and public opinion issues.
Serve as a leading spokesperson for the company when needed.
Manage the Press Office servicing the segments.
