The Opportunity
The Vendor Manager is responsible for the governance, performance management, and optimization of strategic vendors across the business. The role ensures that vendors deliver against agreed service levels, operate in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements, and support Maersk’s strategic objectives.
This position treats contracts as active business assets and provides structured oversight across the vendor lifecycle, from business need evaluation and onboarding through performance monitoring, optimization, and offboarding.
The Vendor Manager supports data driven decision making, risk management, and vendor consolidation by providing enterprise level insights and ensuring consistent vendor management practices across regions.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Lifecycle Management
Support evaluation of business needs where vendor solutions are considered
Participate in vendor due diligence and contract review in partnership with Procurement and relevant stakeholders
Lead vendor onboarding to ensure vendors are set up to operate effectively within Maersk frameworks
Ensure vendors are offboarded responsibly, safeguarding business continuity and data integrity
Governance and Performance Management
Establish and maintain structured governance for assigned vendors, including SLAs, compliance, and reporting
Monitor vendor performance and risks at an enterprise level
Conduct regular performance reviews with key vendors and drive follow up actions
Ensure vendor performance and risk topics are discussed in the appropriate governance forums
Data, Reporting, and Optimization
Ensure global vendor data is accessible, accurate, and usable for decision making
Drive standardized reporting on vendor performance, cost, and risk
Identify and pursue improvement opportunities related to performance, cost effectiveness, and operating efficiency
Support inclusion of vendor metrics in functional scorecards and leadership reporting
Vendor Landscape and Consolidation
Maintain an overview of the global and regional vendor landscape
Identify fragmentation, duplication, and misalignment across vendors and regions
Support initiatives to consolidate vendors where scale, performance, or cost benefits exist
Contribute to sourcing strategies, business cases, and RFP processes as required
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic vendors
Advise internal forums on vendor performance, risks, and opportunities
Partner with Procurement and functional teams on vendor related initiatives
Ensure vendors are appropriately represented within stakeholder and governance models
Risk and Compliance
Monitor vendor related risks in a complex operating environment with many touchpoints
Ensure vendors operate in line with contractual obligations and compliance requirements
Escalate material risks or performance concerns in a timely manner
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience in vendor management, supplier governance, or enterprise service management
Strong understanding of contract governance, SLAs, and performance management
Experience working with reporting, data analysis, and performance metrics
Experience operating in a regional or global organization

Consistent application of vendor management frameworks across regions
Job Type: Full-time
Work Model: On-site
Salary Range: CAD $90,000.00 – $110,000.00
