Senior AI/ML Engineer

The Brief
In this role as an AI/ML Engineer on the Global Data and Analytics (GDA) team, you will support the development of strategic, visibility-driven recommendation systems that serve both internal stakeholders and external customers. This initiative aims to deliver actionable insights that enhance supply chain execution, support strategic decision-making, and enable innovative service offerings.

You should be able to design, develop, and implement machine learning models, conduct deep data analysis, and support decision-making with data-driven insights. Responsibilities include building and validating predictive models, supporting experiment design, and integrating advanced techniques like transformers, GANs, and reinforcement learning into scalable production systems.

The role requires solving complex problems using NLP, deep learning, optimization, and computer vision. You should be comfortable working independently, writing reliable code with automated tests, and contributing to debugging, refinement and deploying into production.

You’ll also document your methods and results clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact AI/ML solutions that align with business objectives and user needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business, product, and engineering teams to define problem statements, evaluate feasibility, and design AI/ML-driven solutions that deliver measurable business value.
  • Lead and execute end-to-end AI/ML projects — from data exploration and model development to validation, deployment, and monitoring in production.
  • Drive solution architecture using techniques in data engineering, programming, machine learning, NLP, and Generative AI.
  • Champion the scalability, reproducibility, and sustainability of AI solutions by establishing best practices in model development, CI/CD, MLOPs and performance tracking.
  • Guide junior and associate AI/ML engineers through technical mentoring, code reviews, and solution reviews.
  • Identify and evangelize the adoption of emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies across teams.
  • Translate technical outputs into actionable insights for business stakeholders through storytelling, data visualizations, and stakeholder engagement.

We are looking for:

  • A seasoned AI/ML engineer with 7+ years of hands-on experience delivering enterprise-grade AI/ML solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, PySpark, and experience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and tools such as Databricks, Synapse, ADF, and Web Apps.
  • Strong expertise in applied text analytics, NLP, and Generative AI, Agentic AI with real-world deployment exposure.
  • Hands-on experience developing applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) and frameworks like LangChain/DSpy/LlamaIndex for complex tasks such as structured data extraction, workflows, summarization, and RAG.
  • Strong understanding of MLOps principles and experience with tools like MLflow.
  • Solid understanding of model evaluation, optimization, bias mitigation, and monitoring in production.
  • A problem solver with scientific rigor, strong business acumen, and the ability to bridge the gap between data and decisions.
  • Prior experience in leading cross-functional AI initiatives or collaborating with engineering teams to deploy ML pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. A PhD is a plus.
  • Prior understanding in business domain of shipping and logistics is an advantage.
  • Experience in Simulations and Operation Research is a plus.
  • Familiarity with document processing and OCR technologies is a plus
