About the Role
Maersk is seeking a passionate Regional Head of Quality and Safety & Resilience (S&R) Governance, IMEA to drive excellence in quality, safety, and resilience across the region by ensuring consistent adherence to organizational standards, regulatory requirements, best practices and S&R programs across the region. The role leads the regional governance framework for quality and S&R, strengthening compliance, risk management, and operational performance.
Reporting to the Regional Head of Safety & Resilience, IMEA, you will be part of the IMEA S&R Leadership team and work closely with various regional and global stakeholders. This role champions continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging insights and data to enhance processes, improve outcomes, and strengthen customer confidence. This role also plays a critical role in building strong stakeholder relationships, fostering collaboration across functions, and embedding quality, safety, and resilience into business strategy, culture, and decision-making.
This is the ideal role for someone who is versed in QHSSE management systems and risk management, experienced in solving challenging problems in a large, complex business, and obsessed with data and insights to drive continual improvement and business excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Quality
- Quality Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to regional quality standards, regulations, and best practices. Oversee the quality management system, lead audits, and ensure corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement & Excellence: Drive initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce defects, and optimize processes using data-driven insights and best practices.
- Leadership & Team Development: Lead and develop a high-performing quality team aligned with organizational objectives through coaching and training.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Focus: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to integrate quality into business strategies and manage quality-related inquiries and escalations.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and mitigate quality risks through proactive strategies and regular compliance reporting.
- Collaboration & Change Management: Work with cross-functional teams to embed a quality culture and lead process improvement initiatives.
Governance
- Data & Reporting: Manage S&R reporting, KPIs, and regulatory communications to drive insights and improvements.
- Performance & Improvement: Review S&R outcomes, analyze metrics, and improve processes.
- Standards & Optimization: Establish governance frameworks, standardize tools and procedures, mitigate risks, and enhance regional S&R performance.
- Roadmaps & Strategy: Maintain S&R roadmaps aligned with global priorities and ensure stakeholder communication.
- Improvement Projects: Plan and deliver regional S&R initiatives aligned with global standards and timelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Global, Regional, and Area teams to execute S&R initiatives effectively.
- Governance Framework: Establish and oversee the IMEA S&R meeting structure to drive effective decision-making, accountability, and value creation.
- Awareness & Communication: Lead S&R awareness and communication efforts with relevant stakeholders.
- Financial Governance: Support budget preparation and spend monitoring.
- Legal Compliance: Oversee S&R legal compliance checks to ensure timely completion.
- Strategic Risk Management: Facilitate EHS risk and opportunity assessments and identify high-risk areas across IMEA.
- Training & Support: Deliver training aligned with regulatory and S&R priorities and oversee S&R system implementation and support.
We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Quality, or a related field. NEBOSH, CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification (or actively pursuing).
- 10+ years in QHSSE/Quality, Safety & Resilience governance across multiple industries, preferably within matrix organizations. Experience in logistics or supply chain is a plus.
- Proven experience managing governance frameworks, creating standards and procedures, and overseeing QHSSE compliance and continuous improvement initiatives. Third-party auditing experience is highly desirable.
- Strong track record leading cross-functional projects, driving process improvements, and implementing programs efficiently across regions.
- Ability to translate data and insights into actionable governance, risk management, and quality strategies. Proactively addresses customer needs through fact-based, quality-driven solutions.
- Skilled at mentoring, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
- Upholds high ethical standards, accountability, and fosters a culture of excellence.
- Exceptional ability to build and influence relationships across internal and external stakeholders, aligning regional priorities with global objectives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex concepts clearly at all levels. Comfortable in global, matrixed organizations and cross-functional collaboration.
- Proactive, self-motivated, tech-savvy, highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Resolves conflicts effectively while maintaining focus on objectives.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Travel within the IMEA region as required.
