Procurement Manager - First Mile

The Mexico Procurement Manager, Trucking will coordinate efforts to secure capacity at competitive rates to enable profitable growth in the Mx market.

He/she will develop a category strategy to achieve cost leadership and best-in-class service levels by collaborating with other Procurement managers (Category Leads) as well Product (Solutions Design/Pricing), Delivery (Operations).

This high impact role will act as change agent (orchestrator) and catalyst for growth. Building a strong operating system to facilitate internal collaboration and developing a strong Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program for MX will be critical success factors.

Key Responsabilities

  • Execute end-to-end sourcing projects across the Truck category. This includes activities from developing ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ models to understanding cost structures to building the ideal negotiation strategy and execute accordingly.
  • Perform supplier market analysis and organise market intelligence for truckers and benchmark Maersk costs with competition and ensure we are cost competitive
  • Develop and execute complex negotiations for trucking (FCL) and establish Service Level Agreements with key suppliers.
  • Cooperating closely with colleagues and stakeholders in North America, and within Maersk Product, Execution, and Finance, and other regions in Maersk.
  • Contribute to development of procurement frameworks and processes.
  • Deliver procurement benefits (realised savings, service level improvements, etc.) and make sure these are realised through measurement and follow-up
  • Manage / build a high performing team

Who we are looking for

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) – REQURIED
  • Experience in the local Mexico truck market (preferred)
  • Bachelor Degree with graduate studies (preferred)
  • At least 5 years of experience in transportation or supply chain .
  • Prior experience in procurement or vendor management.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and drive business outcomes in a matrix organization.
  • Strategic mindset and data savvy.
  • Customer centricity.
