Job Description

In the position of Pricing Analyst, you will join the Region Ocean Management team in Dubai, a team of engaged and enthusiastic people who drive the agenda for digitization and data driven decision making. A Pricing analyst sets and optimizes the short-term prices of ocean products within the assigned geographical scope, offering the most relevant prices to customers while maximizing the profit for Maersk. This is done through use of data analysis, forecasting and close coordination with frontline stakeholders. The Pricing Analyst role is a key enabler of executing asset optimization strategies, while monitoring the effects of data-based pricing decisions to enable continuous learnings and improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and optimize short term rates to maximize trade profitability while delivering on volume, utilization, and revenue targets
  • Collect and optimize input data for pricing models, monitor pricing trends and conduct pricing analysis and modelling to enable dynamic and data driven pricing decisions
  • Alignment and execution with the frontline organization
  • Ensure market relevant rates are offered through digital platforms
  • Execution of the trade strategy in line with the trade and global direction
  • Share market and customer insights with Global Ocean team, to be used for product and network development
  • Continuous development and optimization of pricing processes, models, frameworks, and tools
  • Drive the use of and support implementation of digital tools
  • Development and governance of contracting and quoting policies, with the focus on improving customer experience and simplification

Required competencies:

  • Analytical mindset
  • Strong commercial acumen and customer orientation
  • Proven track record of data analysis using Excel and Power BI
  • Good communication skills, with excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to work across levels and geographies
  • Proficient in verbal and written English
  • Decisiveness and ability to execute and drive for results, including being comfortable with taking calculated risks
  • Resilience and ability to persist and adapt despite challenges

Additional skills which are preferred:

  • Insight into the Liner Shipping industry and trade management
  • Theoretical knowledge of revenue management mechanisms and dynamic pricing
  • In-depth understanding of marketing, specifically competitor and market segmentation analysis
