Job Description
What you’ll be driving
As Marine Training Manager, you play a key role in making sure our seafarers are ready for the job – both today and tomorrow. You will continuously improve how we train, who we train with, and how we turn training into real performance onboard.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Global Marine Training and be an active part of a global training team, where collaboration across regions is key. This is not a standalone role – success depends on how well we share, challenge, and build together across geographies.
Your main responsibilities
• Drive continuous improvement of seafarer training – both internally and with our external partners – always with safety, quality, and cost in mind
• Build strong, trusted relationships with key training providers across your region
• Take ownership of how training is delivered – from classroom to simulator to digital – ensuring it fits the need (not just the tradition)
• Develop and maintain training materials, tools, and evaluation methods that actually make a difference
• Work closely with the Global Marine Training team across regions to align, share insights, and build strong and consistent solutions
• Manage the local training budget with a sharp eye on value and priorities
• Bring in local market insights – what exists, what works, and where we can challenge.
• Stay close to the fleet – understand performance, identify gaps, and translate that into clear training actions
• Use data actively to prioritize the right training for the right people at the right time
• Ensure feedback from training is not just collected – but acted upon
• Take overall ownership of training in your region and make things happen in close cooperation with other teams in Marine People & Culture department.
Who you are
• You bring either a maritime background (sailing experience is a strong advantage) or solid experience within training / learning & development
• You thrive in a global setup and collaborate naturally across regions, cultures, and functions
• You are a strong team player who shares knowledge and builds solutions together with others
• You are comfortable driving projects forward – from idea to implementation – and keeping momentum across stakeholders
• You can balance global direction with local realities and make it work in practice
• You are structured and data-driven, with a focus on using resources where they create the most value
• You communicate clearly, build trust, and engage stakeholders in a constructive way
• You listen, challenge, and turn input into clear actions and results
If you enjoy turning ideas into action, working across cultures, and being part of something bigger – this is where you can truly make an impact.
