
Job Description
Maersk Fleet Management and Technology is responsible for the ship management of all Maersk-owned container vessels. Operations are primarily based in Copenhagen, Singapore, and Mumbai.
We are looking for an experienced maritime professional to lead the Marine Assurance function across Maersk's owned fleet.
As the Marine Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for driving the fleet's audit, quality assurance and compliance strategy, ensuring vessel operations consistently meet the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Leading a global team of Marine Assurance Superintendents (MAS) and Vessel Assurance Surveyors (VAS), you will strengthen governance, enhance audit effectiveness and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the fleet.

Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Fleet Safety, you will lead Marine Assurance across Maersk's owned fleet, ensuring a robust, risk-based audit and quality assurance framework that supports safe, compliant and reliable vessel operations.
Marine Assurance & Audit
Lead the Marine Assurance audit programme across the owned fleet, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal management system requirements.
Drive consistency and quality in vessel audits, inspections and assurance activities.
Review audit findings, inspection results and assurance data to identify trends, systemic risks and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure timely closure of audit findings and effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Continuously improve audit methodologies, assurance standards and governance processes.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Lead initiatives that strengthen quality, compliance and operational excellence across the fleet.
Develop and enhance risk-based assurance programmes to improve vessel performance.
Drive standardisation and continuous improvement of Marine Assurance processes, systems and reporting.
Monitor assurance performance through KPIs, trend analysis and quality metrics.
Leadership
Lead, coach and develop the Marine Assurance Superintendent (MAS) and Vessel Assurance Surveyor (VAS) teams across multiple locations.
Build a high-performing assurance organisation focused on quality, consistency and operational excellence.
Manage departmental budget and resource planning.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure Marine Assurance activities remain aligned with Maersk's policies, Fleet Safety objectives and international maritime regulations.
Serve as Deputy Designated Person Ashore (Deputy DPA), supporting effective communication between vessels and shore management.
Provide assurance reporting, insights and recommendations to Fleet Safety leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement
Partner closely with Fleet Operations, Marine People & Culture, Safety & Resilience, Platform and other stakeholders to strengthen assurance outcomes.
Represent Marine Assurance during customer visits, external audits, regulatory inspections and engagements with classification societies.
Incident Assurance
Support investigations into vessel incidents, audit findings and non-conformities.
Ensure lessons learned are translated into sustainable improvements across the fleet.
Authorisation
Authorise payments and sign documents in accordance with delegated authority.
We’re looking for
Master Mariner or Chief Engineer with significant seagoing experience.
Extensive experience in Marine Assurance, Quality Management, ISM audits, inspections or fleet management.
Proven experience leading audit, compliance or quality functions within the maritime industry.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams across multiple locations.
Strong knowledge of ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISPS and IMO regulations.
Experience conducting or overseeing internal and external audits.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, manage risk and drive continuous improvement.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all organisational levels.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel internationally as required.
Comfortable working within a global, matrixed organisation.
Adaptable to evolving operational and business needs.
