Job Description

Proactive business partner for local management and commercial functions. Flagging risks with a commercial and pragmatic approach towards problem solving. Coming up with initiatives to improve the legal service offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safeguarding Maersk’s values, interests and reputation and "getting the best possible deal" across the line.
  • Advice and support on drafting of commercial contracts and other legal documents.
  • General legal support on various matters as required from time to time.
  • Responsible for engaging and managing of external legal counsel, including legal budget.
  • Proactively identify and address legal issues in a pragmatic and risk-based fashion.
  • Provide training to (non-legal) colleagues on relevant topics such as commercial contracting.
  • Working effectively with other departments and functions such as Finance, Tax, Compliance, etc.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor of Laws is a minimum. Master of Laws is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience in private practice and/or as in-house counsel, with experience in transportation and logistics (in particular in air) will be considered as a strong advantage.
  • Solid experience with general corporate, regulatory and commercial legal issues.
  • Experience with drafting and negotiating contracts; drive to understand commercial context.
  • Able to hold a position, yet partnering with the business to find solutions to complex issues.
  • Commercial mind-set, drive to deliver high quality results, high level of integrity.
  • Effective communicator (able to explain complex legal issues to non-legal people), empathy, personal tact.
  • Well organised, punctual.
  • Speaks and writes in Chinese and English clearly.
