Job Description

The Japan Lead Logistics (LL) Product Manager is responsible for driving the strategic and financial performance of the Lead Logistics portfolio in Japan. In partnership with the Head of NEA Lead Logistics & Cold Chain Logistics (LL&CCL), this role leads the P&L agenda, ensuring sustainable growth while maximizing profitability.

Success in this role requires strong commercial acumen, the ability to articulate a clear go-to-market strategy, deep understanding of customer needs, and seamless collaboration across sales, operations, product, and global/regional teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. P&L Ownership

  • Own the full Japan Lead Logistics (LL) P&L, ensuring revenue, EBIT, and gross profit targets are achieved.
  • Identify gaps between actual performance and targets, develop data-driven action plans, and drive interventions to close performance gaps.
  • Manage and optimize product cost elements to maximize overall profitability.
  • Ensure financial performance is transparent, measurable, and continuously improved.

2. Business Growth & Commercial Strategy

  • Define and articulate a clear LL go-to-market strategy to guide and enable the sales organization.
  • Implement Japan’s LL growth strategy aligned with regional and global priorities.
  • Understand customer needs and convert them into compelling value propositions anchored in Maersk’s integrated LL solutions.
  • Adapt and refine LL product offerings to fit market requirements, working closely with regional and global product management teams.
  • Identify new revenue streams, support upselling initiatives, and strengthen customer engagement to expand LL penetration.

3. Service & Performance Management

  • Oversee and improve LL product and service performance in collaboration with operations and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Drive performance transparency through regular reviews, KPIs, and strong governance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing customer outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the introduction, rollout, and “go-live” execution of new LL products and capabilities.
  • Strengthen Japan’s connection with the global LL network to drive consistency, synergies, and overall product value.

4. People & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative Lead Logistics community across functions and organizational boundaries.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Operations, Customer Experience, Finance, and other functions to drive growth and product success.
  • Ensure alignment with Regional and Center Product Management teams regarding strategy, offerings, and performance expectations.
  • Enable and empower cross-functional teams through clarity of direction, coaching, and proactive communication.

  • Consistent delivery of strong P&L performance (Revenue,, GP, EBIT).
  • Clear commercial direction that enables Sales to win and grow LL business.
  • High customer satisfaction through differentiated value propositions.
  • Tight collaboration across regional and global teams with strong alignment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset embedded across the LL organization in Japan.
