Job Description

Global Public Affairs Intern – Supporting Public Affairs for Sub-Saharan Africa (Early Careers)

Are you a student in business, political science or international relations with a strong interest in how global business operates in complex political environments with a particular focus on Sub-Saharan Africa? Are you eager to apply your academic knowledge to real-world geopolitical and policy challenges? Then the position of Global Public Affairs Intern (Spring Semester 2027) at Maersk may be of interest to you.

Key Responsibilities

As part of Maersk’s Global Public Affairs team, you will support the Chief Group Representative for Sub-Saharan Africa, helping to navigate the intersection of business strategy, public policy, and geopolitical developments across the region.

In this role, you will gain insight into how political and economic dynamics shape international trade, logistics infrastructure, and supply chains in emerging markets.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting desk research and political analysis on regulatory, economic, and geopolitical developments across Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Preparing briefings, talking points, and background materials for senior leadership engagements in the region.
  • Supporting the planning and coordination of high-level meetings and visits involving African government stakeholders and partners.
  • Assisting in the development of regional engagement strategies and stakeholder mapping.
  • Help with various administrative tasks

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Maersk’s engagement in one of the world’s most dynamic and fast-growing regions.

Why Choose Maersk?

By joining Maersk, you become part of a global leader in integrated logistics, working to connect and simplify supply chains while enabling global trade and sustainable development. Our Global Public Affairs team works at the intersection of business and geopolitics, supporting the company’s strategic priorities worldwide.

As an intern, you will gain valuable insights into how multinational companies engage with governments, international institutions, and policy processes, while developing analytical and professional skills in a truly global environment. You will also become part of Maersk’s international intern network in Copenhagen.

Who We’re Searching For

We are looking for a structured and curious student with a strong interest in Africa, international business, and geopolitics.

You are currently pursuing a master’s degree or in the final year of your bachelor’s degree in business, political science, international relations, or a related field at a Danish University based out of Copenhagen, Denmark. You have strong analytical and research skills and the ability to translate complex political developments into clear insights for business decision-making.

Experience or academic focus on Africa, emerging markets, or international development will be considered an advantage.

Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, fluency in English, and a strong international outlook are essential.

Practical Information

The internship is a full-time position (37 hours/week) at Maersk’s headquarters in Copenhagen from February to July. We are flexible in accommodating university requirements such as credit transfers.
