Job Description

Who are we?

Ki is the biggest global insurance tech company you’ve never heard of, unless you’ve been looking to insure a satellite, wind farm or music festival recently.

Having written over $877m in gross written premium in 2023, we’ve achieved significant growth since our beginnings in 2021. Our investors were excited about the fact we were revolutionising the way a 333 year-old industry was working. There are hardly any industries left that are mainly paper based, but the specialty insurance market is one. Together with partners at Google and UCL we developed Ki and created a platform that helps insurance brokers place risk in a fast and frictionless way. We’re continuing to lead the charge on the digitisation of this market and we need more excellent minds to work with us to realise this goal and create more opportunities.

What you will be working on

You’ll join as Engineering Manager, a unique role here at Ki, acting as an advocate for our technology vision as well as building and developing a high-performance culture within the engineering team. You’ll use your significant and invaluable experience in software engineering roles to bring a product-led and agile working mindset to the business and establish engineering departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.

You’ll have ample opportunity to involve yourself with diversity projects, promote ownership and accountability, learning and teaching, and driving engineering principles helping to develop a culture of excellence and wellbeing. We hope you would also contribute to expanding the engineering brand by getting involved with external talks and meetups, as well as networking with other like-minded experts and leaders.

Synopsis of the role

Using your hands-on technical expertise you’ll establish technical best practices, policies, ways of working, testing and delivery strategies, overseeing these across the engineering team. Crucially, you’ll work with the rest of the engineering leadership team and the CTO to plan, forecast and manage Ki's investment in technology and its engineering department and be accountable for the operational health of the product group, using data to drive improvements, ensuring our products are delivered and supported to a high standard.

Keeping current with trends and issues in the technology industry, including current technologies you’ll advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.

The above is very much non exhaustive and a mere synopsis so if your interest has been sparked, we’d love to talk with you about your experience and ambitions and the full scope of this opportunity.

Our culture

Inclusion & Diversity is at the heart of our business at Ki. We recognise that diversity in age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, thought and social background bring richness to our working environment. No matter who you are, where you’re from, how you think, or who you love, we believe you should be you.

You’ll get a highly competitive remuneration and benefits package. This is kept under constant review to make sure it stays relevant. We understand the power of saying thank you and take time to acknowledge and reward extraordinary effort by teams or individuals.

If this sounds like a role and a culture that appeals to you, apply now.
