The role

We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to help develop and optimize our data transformation and modeling layer within our ELT process. As part of a small but highly skilled data team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring data is accurate, reliable, and accessible, enabling teams across Huel to make informed, data-driven decisions. Here is an insight to your day-to-day:

• Design, build, and optimize data models within dbt while investigating and resolving data discrepancies to ensure high-quality, reliable, and high-performance data.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand and address their data and automation needs while advocating for and implementing best practices in data governance within our Snowflake data warehouse.
• Support AI and automation initiatives by providing clean, structured data and helping build AI-driven automation across the business to improve efficiency and decision-making.

• Maintain and improve data observability using tools like Monte Carlo, ensuring the accuracy of key business KPIs.

• Develop and maintain custom integrations, including automating manual data processes and building reverse-ETL pipelines using AWS services (Lambda, S3, SNS, AWS CDK, etc.).

What we're looking for in you

This is a great chance for a recent computer science grad or someone with around 1+ years of experience in a similar role who wants to grow their career in Data Engineering! If you're the kind of person who gets a thrill from crunching numbers and making sense of data, then you're just the one we're looking for.

• Strong SQL skills, with dbt experience preferred.

• Experience with an ETL tool such as Fivetran, Airbyte, or similar.

• Knowledge of Snowflake or other data warehousing technologies.

• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python or TypeScript).

• A passion for automation, AI, and leveraging data to drive business impact.
