Are you an early career IT professional or recent graduate seeking a hands-on role beyond traditional IT support?

You will be involved in the full lifecycle of IT projects from understanding business requirements and pain points to collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop and enhance systems that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort whilst also maintaining comprehensive documentation.

Additionally, you will provide essential support to internal business stakeholders, assist with the implementation of new or upgraded software, and support end users with their day-to-day IT and training needs.

Your key responsibilities

  • Supporting end users, systems and applications, including troubleshooting, assisting with major incident management effort and general IT service query handling.
  • Collaborate with team members, internal stakeholders and external vendors to understand business requirements.
  • Assist with analysing issues, including mapping our existing and future processes, gathering requirements from the business teams and preparing comprehensive supporting documentation.
  • Support development activities, system changes and release management. Working with our team or those of a vendor software provider when software is being upgraded, when there is brand new software or new reports being made available.
  • Develop, maintain and improve systems.
  • Ability or willingness to learn how to use data analysis and reporting tools to generate reports and derive insights.
  • Personal motivation to wish to carefully test, refine and enhance new solutions after they have been released i.e. post release deployment reviews to ensure both optimal performance and business stakeholder/end user satisfaction.
  • Development and maintain clear documentation to ensure compliance with our governance standards. You will be supporting us with this ongoing team wide governance effort and the standards will be fully explained.

Skills and attributes for success

What we look for

  • Confident, proactive and able to work independently - initial orientation and support will be provided.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, capable of prioritising and completing tasks responsibly.
  • Analytical and solution-focused, with a strong interest in IT and Mathematics, which may be needed to validate data accuracy and verify calculations in new reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with internal customers and external vendors.
  • Adaptable to changing technologies and processes, with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Able to maintain composure and deliver quality work under pressure or in time sensitive situations.
  • Knowledge of some standard software applications, a broad understanding of IT Project lifecycle and appreciation of IT general support practices.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Educated to A Level or degree standard preferably in a relevant discipline or with relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn how to use common low-code and automation platforms and tools. Knowledge of database query languages would also be beneficial.
