Job Description

The Finance Specialist is a key role within our Warsaw Business Services team. They will be the first point of contact for senior management and staff in all financial matters, ranging from transactional finance queries while ensuring strong financial controls are maintained, in line with our global standards and best practice, but adapted to local compliance requirements.

The role will work closely with the local management team as well as the global finance team, and contribute to our international financial reporting and processes, being the expert for local Polish requirements.

This role offers a great opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the specific financial obligations for international organisations operating in Poland, while also gaining valuable international finance experience.

Meet your Manager

In this role, you will be managed by Joanna Krauze, our Warsaw Operations Manager. Joanna joined ClientEarth in July 2020. As the Operations Manager Joanna is responsible for smooth functioning of the Warsaw office, including coordination of cooperation between local business services (admin, finance, people and governance). Over the past 15 years she has worked and volunteeried in several Polish not-for-profit organizations and institutions, including the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland, the Taube Centre for the Renewal of Jewish Life in Poland, “Grodzka Gate – NN Theatre” Centre, and Centre for Citizenship Education. "

Main Duties

  • Statutory compliancance
    • Statutory Reporting and Tax - Work with local external accountants and local regulators to ensure all regulatory returns, tax filings, and statutory reports are completed accurately and on time.
    • Adapting global policies and standards for local compliance
  • Day to day financial responsibilities

    • Payroll, Banking, Invoice Processing, Income

  • Month and Year End Accounting - Responsible for the monthly transactions posting and reconciliation of the CEPL entity through to year end closing of the accounts.

Role requirements

  • Fluent (CEFR level C2) in Polish
  • Fluent (CEFR level C2) in English
  • Experience in a similar financial accounting
  • Experience of working with Access Dimensions or other similar accounting systems
  • Ability to create own work plans, prioritise work demands so that deadlines are met
