This role is an opportunity to design and deliver the tools that power real-time trading decisions in dynamic energy markets. This role bridges advanced software engineering with market insight, enabling traders and analysts to translate complex data into actionable intelligence through intuitive applications and visualisations.

Working at the heart of trading technology, the position offers the chance to shape both immediate trading outcomes and the longer-term evolution of front-end and data visualisation capabilities. It is well suited to a Senior Software Developer motivated by ownership, collaboration, and building high-impact solutions in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

This role is focused on building and evolving front-end applications and data visualisation tools that underpin trading decisions and portfolio insights. It requires close collaboration with commercial stakeholders and a strong ability to translate complex, often ambiguous requirements into robust technical solutions. The position provides significant ownership and influence over design decisions, architecture, and the overall user experience.

In this role, responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable front-end applications and interactive dashboards using Python, Dash, and modern front-end technologies

• Developing advanced data visualisation solutions that transform complex trading, market, and portfolio data into clear, actionable insights

• Partnering closely with traders, quantitative analysts, and portfolio managers to translate evolving workflows into effective and intuitive software solutions

• Integrating internal and external data sources, APIs, and third-party libraries while ensuring high standards of data quality and reliability

• Driving performance optimisation to support responsive applications handling large-scale real-time and historical datasets

• Contribute to the continued expansion of automation and algorithmic trading within the Short-Term Asset Trading team

About You

The ideal candidate is an experienced software developer who combines strong technical expertise with a pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset. Success in this role requires the ability to operate independently while engaging closely with business stakeholders, demonstrating curiosity in understanding trading environments, and taking ownership of delivering impactful and scalable solutions.

To succeed in this position, the candidate will bring:

• Extensive experience in software development, with a strong focus on front-end engineering, web applications, or data visualisation in complex environments

• Proficiency in at least one programming language, with the ability to work effectively in Python and adapt quickly to new frameworks and technologies

• Solid experience designing and delivering interactive dashboards or visualisation tools that support data-driven decision-making

• Strong familiarity with modern development practices, including cloud platforms, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable system design

• Proven ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of end-to-end delivery in a fast-paced setting

Additionally it would be an advantage if you have knowledge of or experience with agentic coding.
