Senior Pricing and Demand Forecast Specialist

Windsor / FlexFirst hybrid working




British Gas Business (BGB) is the leading provider of energy to SMEs in the UK and is focused on helping its customers use energy simply, sustainably and affordably. We are recruiting a Senior Pricing and Demand Specialist.

You will be responsible for the energy procurement, hedging, position management and demand forecasting of the BGB Gas portfolio.

This involves the creation, implementation and review of operational forecasts to manage the hedge and report performance metrics to our key stakeholders.

The Role

In your new role you will ensure that the gas portfolio is hedged according to the relevant governance framework and the necessary performance metrics are created to enable accurate margin reporting.

You will apply your statistical and mathematical modelling skills to develop short and long-term gas forecasts. If successful, you will be involved in developing sophisticated statistical models, managing datasets and producing reports to key stakeholders.

You will work closely with Finance and Commercial teams to provide insight and analysis to enhance the reporting of our volumetric and financial positions relating to our hedging and forecasting activities.

You will coordinate the delivery of forecasting projects ensuring our data requirements are captured and data quality is maintained.

Lastly, you will represent BGB at industry forums.

The Person

  • Excellent numerical, written and verbal communication skills which have been demonstrated in an energy forecasting role.
  • Comfortable handling complex numeric data.
  • Understanding of the commodities markets and energy forecasting.
  • Awareness of financial risk management and the risks associated with pricing and hedging activities.
  • Technical software skills required are SQL, Python, R, SAS, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Excel and Power BI.
