Job Description

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your role:

At Centrica Retail, safety is at the heart of how we deliver for our customers.

We’re looking for a Senior HSE Manager to help lead the strategic direction of health, safety and environmental performance across our retail operations - with a particular emphasis on supporting Centrica Business. This includes the field-based operational delivery for Assets & Metering, PH Jones and Centrica Business Solutions.

Reporting to the HSE Director, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping HSE performance across complex, operational environments.

Location: UK / Ireland | Hybrid (home, office & field)

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead and develop a team of HSE specialists, embedding a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

  • Drive the delivery of the Retail HSE strategy, aligned to corporate standards and regulatory requirements

  • Partner closely with operational and commercial leadership, particularly across Business-focused and customer-facing operations, to proactively manage risk

  • Oversee contractor HSE performance across large-scale, field-based activity

  • Ensure robust incident investigation, learning and continuous improvement across the business

  • Support safe introduction of new products, services and operational delivery models

  • Provide expert HSE advice to senior leaders and influence decision-making at scale

This role is central to enabling safe, effective delivery across Centrica’s operational front line, where field activity, contractor management and customer service intersect.

Here's what we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in a senior HSE leadership role within utilities, energy or a regulated operational environment

  • Strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders and embedding HSE culture across operational teams

  • Deep knowledge of UK/Irish HSE legislation and management systems (e.g. ISO 45001 / ISO 14001)

  • Experience managing contractors and complex supply chains

  • Expertise in incident investigation, risk management and driving measurable HSE improvements

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and IOSH membership (chartered status desirable)

Why this role?

This is a high-impact, strategic role with the opportunity to:

  • Shape HSE performance across a major UK retail and service operation

  • Influence how safety is delivered across Business-facing and field-based activities

  • Play a key role in enabling safe growth, operational excellence and customer delivery
