Job Description

We are Centrica! We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising a cleaner, greener future. Working here is #MoreThanACareer - we’re powered by purpose. Together we can make an impact that will truly change tomorrow. Whether you’re developing cutting-edge green tech, helping customers on the front line or simplifying operations behind the scenes.

Your work here isn’t just a job – it’s a mission. We all play a vital role in energising a greener, fairer future.

At British Gas, we have one of the best-known services brands in the country (with 95% brand awareness). We have a family of door-opening brands that are the envy of many, and we’re really excited about the future.

Why? Because we’re evolving to become a truly purpose-led organisation, energising a greener, fairer future.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager with the expertise, skills, and visionary mindset to make a significant impact. In this pivotal role, you will drive the success of our commercial business, specifically focusing on expanding our On-Demand Home Services business. You will be responsible for committing to our Volume/Revenue/GM targets and managing the roadmap of initiatives, campaigns, and activities to secure market leadership. By supporting the planning process and conducting in-depth commercial analysis of propositions, you will leverage high-quality analytics and exceptional communication/reporting skills to make a substantial impact on our business.

The Role:

  • Drive the annual Home Upgrades Portfolio strategy planning, 5-year business plan process and board/Business Planning submissions, engaging with the Director and the Commercial Leadership team.
  • Develop, manage and pursue the business plan of initiatives from key departments (marketing, pricing, digital etc), lead channels (engineer, affiliates, customer fulfilment etc) and sales journeys (in home, guided, voice, etc).
  • Own the commercial roadmap, deciding what we deploy and when to ensure the overall volume and revenue targets are always on track, while delivering the required business margins.
  • Manage and maintain the portfolio of services of existing and new products ensuring they are profitable.
  • Lead the communication of performance narrative to ensure they are effectively shared and clearly understood across the business.
  • Liaise with all lead channels to establish performance driver commitments that are both ambitious and realistic.
  • Constantly liaising with the Planning team and providing commercial inputs to ensure volumes forecasting are accurate and always up to date.
  • Oversee sales funnel performance with clear understanding of key drivers and KPI's to ensure they are tracking well against targets.

The Person:

  • Experience in developing and delivering Business and Commercial strategies.
  • Track record of achieving all agreed commercial and business targets.
  • Strong commercial experience: managing for value, understand the external marketplace, understanding customers’ needs, challenges and pain points, campaigns and sales management.
  • Experience in managing business and products roadmaps/plans (programme management).
  • Experience in developing customer centric, commercially sound propositions and successfully introducing them to market.
  • Experience in developing and delivering successful sales campaigns.
  • Track record of managing commercial analytics/KPIs and commercial reporting to track and drive business performance.
  • Track record of directly contributing into the commercial planning process.
  • Track record of developing and delivering presentations, or reports for senior management.

At Centrica we embrace diversity and actively seek to attract individuals with unique backgrounds and perspectives. To build a more sustainable future, we need the best team – a team with a diverse mix of people and skills, where everyone feels welcome and able to succeed. We are dedicated in helping to close the diversity gap and would love to see more females, people of colour and LGBTQ+ employees, as well as those from a variety of cultures and ethnicity to veterans and the differently abled. Supporting diversity and inclusion is a big part of who we are, we are not looking for people to fit into our culture but to add to it!
