  • The Senior Business Development Manager will play a critical in delivering that purpose by growing our customer reach through B2B2C sales channels

  • The Senior Business Development manager understands all fundamentals of the BG Net Zero business as well as the drivers and motivators of our customers, partners, and competitors and will convert all partner opportunities to sales growth as a result

You will be working in a matrix structure with cross functional teams both internally and externally, to deliver against a key set of performance metrics across different product ranges, brands & partnerships. For example, OEMs, leasing companies and EV installers.

Role Responsibilities

  • The Senior Business Development Manager will identify new and existing partners opportunities for British Gas Net Zero to expand and grow within specific sectors/verticals

  • Manage relationships with key business stakeholders and senior management; ensuring development of an end-to-end partner priority roadmap that will be reviewed and updated on an on-going basis- Monthly, Quarterly, annually

  • They will manage the full lifecycles of Development & Partnership management activity from research, lead generation and cultivation to final implementation. (New Business Development/ On-Boarding/ In-life Management)

  • The Senior Business Development Manager will work within regulatory frameworks (specifically FCA and OFGEM), to ensure all 3rd party relationships and sales are fully compliant

  • The Senior Business Development Manager will have a wealth of knowledge about business development and sales processes and keep up to date professional knowledge through training, networking, events, and presentations

Role Activities

  • Identify sector trends and customer needs- building the business development strategy & plan and executing

  • Delivering sales, revenue & contribution by partner/customer over and above in-year commercial targets and plans

  • Developing proposals and presentations to generate and nurture business growth opportunities and relationships within sector and across each LOB as applicable

  • Preparing business cases, forecasts, RFPs and other commercial documentation

  • Coordinate, lead and manage with the support of other BG functions, tender/RFP processes as required for business growth.

  • Negotiate and lead commercial deal/partnership structuring and pricing

  • Coordinate on-boarding of any new partners with support of other BG functions/3rd party agency support as needed

  • Coordinate the implementation of sales & marketing strategies/plans with partners, pulling in support from other BG functions as needed e.g. Digital, Marketing, Operations, Finance etc

  • 80% of time will be spent with partners/customers externally facing

Key experience

  • Demonstrated experience of working with commercial partners, sales and B2B teams

  • Comfortable leading commercial tendering and procurement processes

  • Driving sales and performance managing against sales targets and the ability and natural inquisitiveness to identify new opportunities and deliver commercial benefits from these opportunities

  • Experience of building strong relationships and networks (at all levels) both internally and externally

  • Experience working within a wider sales and marketing team, with demonstrable experience of performance managing against multiple targets and juggling priorities

  • Previous experience working in an agile, matrixed organisation will be helpful

  • Several years of experience in Sales Management, Partnerships, Sales effectiveness, or Sales Coaching roles

Knowledge and understanding of the following would be advantageous

  • The Energy Market

  • Electric vehicle charging

  • Automotive

  • Contract management – Ensuring terms of contracts are managed

  • Understanding of standard Legal requirements and contract terms
