We build, operate and maintain onsite, large-scale energy assets like Solar PV and Combined Heat and Power – to help businesses to save the planet and save money. We’re also transforming the UK’s energy landscape by partnering with landowners and developers to build a 900MW portfolio of new grid-scale solar farms and battery storage assets.

An opportunity to play your part - As the Metering Product Owner for Centrica Business, you’ll be at the heart of shaping how our metering technology powers the future. This role is all about taking ownership of the end‑to‑end metering product strategy and turning it into something exceptional—something that consistently unlocks top‑quartile performance across Asset Financing & Metering. You’ll bring together brilliant internal technology teams and trusted external partners, guiding them through a clear, high‑value roadmap that keeps us ahead of the curve. Most importantly, you’ll make sure technology is never a barrier to what the business can achieve, but instead a confident accelerator of our ambitions. It’s a role for someone who loves solving complex challenges, influencing across teams, and shaping products that genuinely move the business forward.

Location: UK-based hybrid role, Occasional travel to site.

Day to day –

• Lead and evolve the full AF&M product ecosystem, owning the roadmap, sequencing priorities, and ensuring the technology stack continuously enables top‑tier business performance.
• Translate complex, interconnected system dependencies into clear delivery priorities, using strong judgement to balance business needs, vendor performance, and competing demands.
• Innovate in ambiguity by developing new solutions where processes don’t yet exist,future‑proofing technology, integrating diverse platforms, and resolving systemic issues.
• Drive high performance across internal teams and external SaaS partners through outcome‑based governance, ensuring consistently high‑quality, high‑value product increments.
• Champion AF&M within the wider Centrica portfolio, influencing senior stakeholders, protecting strategic priorities, and ensuring leadership remains aligned with technology performance and direction.
• Operate with autonomy in a fast‑paced, high‑complexity environment, adapting quickly, making risk‑based decisions, and ensuring technology accelerates rather than restricts growth and operational excellence.

What are the must haves –

• Brings a big‑picture understanding of the retail energy industry, knowing how every market participant connects, collaborates, and influences the customer journey.
• Deeply familiar with the world of metering fulfilment (MEM/MSS) and asset financing services (MAP), confidently navigating the processes, responsibilities, and operational nuances that shape metering success.
• Has hands‑on experience working within retail energy businesses, thriving in large corporate environments and understanding how to influence, unblock, and deliver in complex organisational structures.
• Offers proven expertise across asset financing, metering, and the broader retail energy landscape, with a strong grasp of how these domains come together to drive performance.
• Comfortable operating at the intersection of technology and customer outcomes, with experience in B2B environments where strong communication, prioritisation, and value creation are essential.
• Brings solid practical knowledge of metering‑related technologies—whether field applications for engineers installing and commissioning smart meters, supply chain and logistics systems, or key energy supplier platforms that keep the ecosystem running smoothly.
