Job Description
This is a new opportunity within our Smart Metering Service Operations organisation. The role will focus on detailed triage of complex device and/or solution-specific issues, utilising big data to support decision-making and to support progression of incidents on the live service. This role will also include interrogating device connectivity on the mobile network, helping to identify issues at the RAN/Core Network level and identify solutions to resolve.
This role includes working closely with Smart DCC, representatives of the Energy Industry, and other ecosystem service providers to support triage and resolution of issues.
You will need to collaborate with a wide variety of partners, both internal and external, driving investigations and presenting outcomes to senior stakeholders.

The must haves
In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;
- A solid understanding of smart metering processes
- Experience influencing partners up to a senior management level, with a demonstrable ability to translate complex technical issues into simple, concise business impacts with clearly evaluated opportunities ready for decision-making.
- Technical foundation in databases, SQL, and Unix/Linux environments, including confident use of command‑line tools
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including the OSI model, synchronous vs. asynchronous interfaces, and telecom/mobile network protocols
- Hands‑on experience with short‑range communication protocols (e.g., ZigBee or Bluetooth) and network analysis tools such as Wireshark
- A clear understanding of what outstanding triage looks like, with the ability to develop a team/function to pre-empt issues, outlining to the business potential challenges before they grow
The other stuff we are looking for
We'd also love you to bring;
- A triage/testing background would be an advantage, particularly activities performed for smart metering
- Experience of mobile services, ideally in the context of Smart Metering (nice to have)
- Experienced in using Power BI
