This role exists to ensure that Treasury back office operations are delivered to the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency and to lead on ensuring UK banking arrangements meet business requirements and are implemented successfully. The role involves overseeing a daily Treasury transaction settlements and confirmations process which requires money to be centralised and disbursed across the Centrica Group globally, including making high value settlements with banks and holders of Centrica debt. The position holder will also oversee bank account management processes and cash management structures and will work closely with the Business Units and Financial Operations to ensure ongoing banking arrangements meet the needs of the Group.

Work Location - Windsor (although Centrica operates a Flex First programme)

Role Type - Fixed Term Contract (minimum 12 months to cover maternity leave)

Key Accountabilities

Reporting the Group Head of Treasury, Pensions and Insurance, the role holder will be accountable;

  • To lead Centrica’s Group Treasury back office operations including timely confirmation and settlement of transactions and efficient payment processing and ensure that back office reconciliations, position reports and daily actuals are produced in a timely fashion.
  • To ensure all treasury transactions are settled and recorded effectively and efficiently, with appropriate accounting information, and in compliance with the Treasury control framework, regulatory requirements and Group Financing and Treasury Policy.
  • To lead and advise the Business units on devising and maintaining their operational banking requirements and cash management arrangements, including facilitating bank discussions and supporting RFPs.
  • Ensure all back office activity is appropriately controlled, and advise on improvements to the Treasury control framework
  • Ensure account opening and closing mandate changes are processed on behalf of Treasury and business units, and that an efficient bank account structure is maintained.
  • Oversee the operation of the Treasury Management System for the Back Office payment and confirmation processes. Recommend and lead system improvements for back office.
  • Management of Letter of Credit issuance and operations for the group working in close partnership with the Centrica Energy trade finance team.
  • Manage UK cash management relationships with banks
  • Develop cyber resilience of Treasury team operations.
  • Develop the capability of the Treasury back office team.

Key Attributes

  • Relevant experience of a complex treasury environment with comprehensive understanding of payment processing and accountability for delivering operational processes to a high standard.
  • Team leadership experience preferable
  • Experience of FIS Quantum preferable.
