Why this job matters

We’re building one of the UK’s most ambitious sales teams, focused on delivering unmatched value to customers and driving growth. As a key member of our newly formed Sales & Commercial team, you’ll help support businesses with 1-249 employees, from sole traders to small contact centres. With the UK market already dominated, this role is crucial for driving further growth and transformation for BT Business. You’ll focus on championing revenue, margin, and product growth, balancing volume and value to deliver significant returns while collaborating with leadership to optimise the customer experience and overall performance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own specific targets within S&C trading, using insights, analysis, and market expertise to drive performance and create customer interventions (e.g., marketing, pricing, sales incentives) to achieve volume and value goals.
  • Work closely with Channel Management to ensure sales targets (volume and value) align with and exceed trading P&L objectives.
  • Contribute to the MTP/Quarterly target-setting process by evaluating pricing strategies, customer acquisition and retention tactics, and upsell opportunities to drive profitable growth.
  • Coordinate and evaluate opportunities, assess underlying risks, and make recommendations to optimize future performance.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across S&C and BT Business to inform trading intervention decisions and ensure targets are met.
  • Contribute to the development of commercial targets and policies for acquisition, migration, and retention strategies.

The skills you’ll need

  • Relationship Building: Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across cross-functional teams, challenge ideas, and collaborate effectively.
  • Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of the key drivers behind commercial performance. Ability to identify levers that optimize returns, set competitive pricing, and maximiSe profit. Skilled at using data to derive insights and support recommendations.
  • Influencing & Communication: Strong influencing abilities to drive commercial initiatives. Capable of simplifying complex strategies and processes into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders, with excellent verbal and PowerPoint presentation skills.
  • Creativity & Innovation: Proactive in expanding knowledge, exploring new ideas, and encouraging fresh thinking to drive continuous improvement.
  • Customer Acquisition: Proven understanding of strategies for acquiring customers, including cross-selling, upselling, and value enrichment.
  • Customer Retention & Migration: Knowledge of customer retention strategies, migration tactics, and the importance of customer support, engagement programs, and product updates.
  • Commercial Expertise: Sound understanding of pricing strategies and commercial principles, with experience in a market-facing commercial role.
  • Communication & Relationship Management: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships effectively across different levels of the business.
  • Numerical & Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis capabilities to support commercial decision-making, considering both internal and external market factors.
