Working Style: 3 days a week in office, 2 days anywhere

Why this job matters

Microsoft Teams is a massive growth area for BT. We are at a major turning point in the UC marketplace with more and more solutions moving from on-prem to vendor clouds such as Office 365. This role is key in providing innovative, cost-effective ways to compliment these services by enabling PSTN connectivity and providing an end-end service wrap with enhanced QoE tools and reporting.

We are looking for 2* Specialist Design Engineer, voice to be Subject Matter Expert for Microsoft Teams Direct Routing and Operator Connect with responsibility for technical design, deployment and support of various platforms providing Enterprise Voice for BT business customer both direct and through Wholesale.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design & configuration of Audiocodes SBCs connected to a variety of SIP trunking platforms from Enterprise and Wholesale
  • Design & deployment of hosting environment in Azure including support for High Availability
  • Design, deployment & testing of new Teams features such as Local Media Optimisation
  • Engaging with customers to provide expertise and consultancy on both technical architecture and troubleshooting. Eg assisting with “must win” opportunities.
  • 4th line support to key stakeholders
  • Design responsibility for hybrid cloud platforms such as Zoom which make use of the same SBC hosted architecture
  • Maintaining awareness of technical trends and innovation across the UC marketplace and sharing with stakeholders in the LoBs to help BT gain an early mover advantage where appropriate.
  • Driving efficiency and scalability through the re-use of technical designs and automation
  • Proactively simplifying and enhancing the architecture to improve customer experience

What you'll bring

Mandatory

  • Expert knowledge in Zoom / Skype for Business or Office365 including Skype Online or Teams
  • Knowledge of the Enterprise voice (preferably Microsoft) portfolio and marketplace
  • Knowledge of voice, collaboration and technology trends
  • Experience of consultancy, design, deliver and migration of Microsoft / voice solutions (Skype, Teams Office365)
  • Have a background in producing detailed design documents for a technical audience
  • Be able to consider how any given product or feature will not only be deployed, but how it will supported and maintained in-life, how it will be ordered, and how faults will be resolved
  • Expert knowledge of the different consumption models Wholesale/Direct and how changes in API’s will impact each line of business.
  • Work alongside suppliers, third parties and other teams within BT, such as security, firewalls and data networks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers to deliver secure & reliable solution and to ensure technical designs align with product and platform requirements.

Nice to have

  • Be passionate about working with new technologies and product.
  • Have the ability to work independently on complex voice and data solutions.
  • Have experience with Microsoft voice technologies /Teams including Operator connect.
  • Be comfortable presenting completed solutions to relevant BT teams.
  • Be comfortable working across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Externally recognised credentials such as Microsoft MCSE Communications / Productivity or equivalent.
