About the role

The S2P Function Lead is accountable for end to end functional ownership of Source to Pay processes across BT, ensuring solutions delivered on SAP S/4HANA, SAP MM, Ariba, Concur, and VIM are business aligned, compliant, and operationally effective.
The role provides functional leadership across transformation programmes and BAU operations, acting as the key interface between Procurement, Finance, AP, IT, Architecture, and delivery partners.

What you’ll be doing

S2P Functional Ownership
• Own the end to end S2P process model, covering:
o Sourcing & contracting
o Requisition to Purchase Order (R2P)
o Invoice processing & 3 way matching
o Travel & Expense management
o Payments, accruals, and reporting
• Define and maintain global S2P process standards, controls, and policies.
• Act as the functional decision authority for S2P design changes and enhancements.
SAP & Platform Functional Leadership
• Provide functional leadership across:
o SAP S/4HANA (MM & FI touchpoints)
o SAP Ariba (Buying, Invoicing, Sourcing, Contracts)
o SAP Concur (Travel & Expense)
o VIM (OpenText / SAP VIM)
• Validate solution designs from a business, finance, and compliance perspective.
• Ensure functional consistency and integration across SAP and SaaS platforms.
Finance, Controls & Compliance
• Ensure S2P processes support:
o Financial posting accuracy
o Approval and segregation of duties controls
o Audit, SOX, and regulatory requirements
• Own S2P related control frameworks, KPIs, and risk management actions.
• Partner with Finance Controllers, Audit, and Risk teams to support assurance activities.
Transformation & Change Delivery
• Act as functional lead for S2P transformation initiatives, including:
o SAP S/4HANA upgrades or rollouts
o Ariba / Concur / VIM implementations or enhancements
• Work closely with Solution Architects and Designers to:
o Translate business needs into functional requirements
o Validate designs before build
• Lead functional input into SIT, UAT, cutover, and hypercare.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management
• Be the primary S2P functional contact for:
o Procurement leadership
o Finance & AP operations
o IT delivery and architecture teams
o System Integrators and vendors
• Provide functional impact assessments and recommendations to leadership.
• Support prioritisation of change demand and defect remediation.

Essential Skills / Experience

• 6–10 years of experience in Source to Pay, Procurement, or Finance process leadership roles.
• Strong functional expertise in:
o SAP S/4HANA
o SAP MM
o SAP Ariba
o SAP Concur
o VIM (OpenText or SAP)
• Deep understanding of S2P business processes and financial controls.
• Experience working with large, multi vendor SAP landscapes.
• Strong stakeholder, governance, and decision making skills.

Desirable Skills / Experience

• Experience leading S2P workstreams in large transformation programmes.
• Exposure to telecom or highly regulated enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of SAP Central Finance impacts S2P processes.
• Experience working within Agile / SAFe delivery models.
• SAP or procurement related certifications.
