Location - London or Bristol. Hybrid working 3 days in the office, 2 wherever (Pro-rated)

Why this job matters

In this job share role you’ll drive and manage complex, outcome-focused organisation design initiatives that may span multiple business units or functions, ensuring coherence and integration across the in-scope organisation(s). You’ll need to partner with and support the business units to simplify how teams are structured and work together.


This role will own and drive significant elements of the unit organisation design & effectiveness and change agenda. This includes LT-sponsored projects to enhance our operating model effectiveness, Group-driven programmes to simplify our organisation architecture, Business Unit organisation design work aimed at making our organisations as effective as possible for meeting our strategic goals.


You will make a difference to the business units you partner through a supportive but challenging consultative approach with our Director and MD leaders, pushing for courageous decisions in their organisations. We have excellent sponsorship from our CEO, so the potential traction is fantastic. Your output will be very high quality organisation solutions covering both ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ dimensions of organisation effectiveness. You’ll do this through very high trust relationships with the leaders you work with and the HR leaders in the relevant units.

What you’ll be doing

•Drive and manage complex, outcome‑focused organisation design initiatives across multiple business units or functions, ensuring coherence and alignment across the in‑scope organisation(s).
•Collaborate with business leaders to define organisational visions, design principles and strategic roadmaps.
•Support senior stakeholders and P&C Partners through Operating Model Transformations, including current‑state assessments, defining and designing target operating models, and developing transformation roadmaps (covering structures, ways of working, governance, decision‑making, skills and capabilities).
•Provide organisation design and effectiveness expertise and coaching to senior stakeholders and P&C colleagues, including interventions to address organisational, team or leadership challenges.
•Apply deep specialist knowledge to advise, interpret and guide on organisation design practices, processes and methodologies.
•Apply specialist understanding of Agile practices and methodology within organisation design activity.
•Lead the delivery of specialist organisation design services in partnership with the business, P&C Directors and transformation leaders.
•Act as a subject matter expert, partnering with P&C Partners, other P&C CoEs and business stakeholders, and representing BT with external organisations to apply best practice.
•Lead regular and ad‑hoc reviews of industry standards and best practice to ensure continuous improvement.
•Work collaboratively, adapting your style for different audiences, to deliver impactful results within a global, matrixed organisation.

•Communicates insights in a compelling, tailored narrative that resonates with different audiences and influences their thinking.
•Applies strong business understanding to inform decision‑making and ensure organisation design solutions support commercial priorities.
•Promotes and embeds agile ways of working within HR practices, encouraging flexibility, prioritisation, continuous improvement and collaboration.
•Actively seeks opportunities to build new and existing skills, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and reflection.
•Uses data and insights to make well‑reasoned trade‑offs and provide clear recommendations when faced with competing priorities.
•Harnesses diverse perspectives and inclusive thinking to strengthen teams, processes, policies and organisational outcomes.
•Conducts job research and evaluation to inform role classification, clarity and organisational structure.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights for business and People & Culture stakeholders.
•Experience in management consulting or an internal consulting role (preferred but not essential).
•Experience within HR or the People & Culture domain (preferred but not essential).
