About the role

Operating within Etc, BT’s innovation unit, this high-profile role is critical for the growth of our Data and Developer Solutions business area. You’ll be developing and finding new business opportunities within agreed sectors. Working with one of the richest and most exciting datasets in the UK, you will sell across a number of innovative new products and services into new markets.

You will play a leading role in managing and finding partners and developing new channel partnerships for our data insights services delivering against strategic commercial objectives and radically scaling BT’s Active Intelligence market offering.

In this role, you will work closely with colleagues across sales, technical pre-sales, product, marketing, and data science to bring together the right expertise for each opportunity. You will be part of a collaborative team supporting opportunities in a niche market, where success depends on combining commercial focus with technical credibility

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and grow relationships with transport consultancies as the core customer base for this role.
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities linked to location-based insights and population movement data.
  • Work with product owners, marketing, data scientists, and pre-sales technical specialists to support customer pitches and proposals.
  • Help customers understand how BT data can be used as an input into transport modelling and related consultancy projects.
  • Manage sales activity across both larger, team-based opportunities and smaller deals requiring close technical collaboration.
  • Develop industry partnerships as part of the go to market process.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Proven experience in new business sales of selling into central government, Transportation sector, Transportation Consultancies/Civil Eng, System Integrators, retail, and/or Public sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of location-based insights and the commercial application of data-led solutions
  • Experience of devising commercial strategies and building business plans for new products into existing clients
  • Understanding of anonymised and aggregated mobile phone data and how it is used in customer solutions.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Able to work in complex, multi‑stakeholder sales cycles, collaborating with product, technical, and data science teams.
  • Commercial acumen to shape value‑based propositions, moving beyond price‑led selling to outcomes and impact.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous or evolving markets, helping to define propositions as well as sell them
  • Demonstrated ability to spot emerging market trends early and translate them into commercial opportunities
  • Attention to detail, ensuring high standards in analysis, proposals, and execution.
