Job Description

This role can be based in Birmingham, Bristol or London.

About the role

As Senior Manager, Work & Reward Services, you’ll lead the operational delivery of complex reward and people services across BT Group. This is a senior HR operations role focused on delivering reward services effectively rather than setting reward strategy.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary organisation of around 50 colleagues across the UK and India, with eight direct reports. Your teams will support critical services including annual pay reviews, benefits and pensions, sales bonus and commission processes, organisation management, TUPE activity and consultation support.

Working closely with the Work and Reward Centre of Excellence and senior stakeholders across People and Culture, Finance, Legal and the wider business, you’ll ensure services are accurate, well governed and delivered with an excellent colleague experience. A key priority will be continuing to strengthen the capability and performance of teams across the UK and India ahead of important pay review and benefits cycles.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading a large, multidisciplinary Work and Reward Services organisation across the UK and India, setting a clear direction and creating a culture of high performance, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing the operational delivery of annual pay review, bonus and benefits cycles, ensuring they are delivered accurately, efficiently and to demanding timescales.
  • Providing operational leadership across colleague benefits and pension services, working with internal teams and external suppliers to meet service and regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing the delivery of complex sales bonus and commission schemes, ensuring colleagues are paid accurately and on time.
  • Leading organisation management services, maintaining accurate organisational structures, people data and SAP hierarchies.
  • Providing oversight of TUPE, job-mapping, redundancy and consultation activity, ensuring legal compliance and a positive colleague experience.
  • Supporting the continued development and stabilisation of teams based in India, ensuring they have the capability to deliver upcoming pay review and benefits cycles successfully.
  • Acting as a senior escalation point for complex or sensitive reward and employment matters.
  • Partnering with the Work and Reward Centre of Excellence and senior stakeholders to translate reward strategy into effective operational delivery.
  • Driving service transformation, process improvement and digital enablement across Work and Reward Services.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Significant leadership experience across HR operations or Reward services in a large, matrixed organisation.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams across multiple locations, including offshore delivery.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience of managing relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience delivering high‑risk, time‑critical reward cycles and processes
  • Experience delivering recommendations and insights that shape policy, operational design, or business decisions
  • Experience leading transformation, process improvement, or digital enablement initiatives.
  • A passion for colleague experience, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Deep knowledge of Reward and HR processes.
