About the role

This is a key role in the Connected Solutions Team. You will represent Etc. to new and existing customers, building and maintaining relationships to drive PoC’s, collaboration, demonstrations and profitable sales.

This role will continue to build BT’s reputation in market as a modern, innovative company. You will have an intimate understanding of Public Sector needs, you will work closely with our Product and Design teams, bringing new capability to our customers in collaboration with our Customer Facing Units (CFU’s). You will champion our solutions internally and externally.

Ultimately you will drive the ambition of our product roadmaps into market, establishing new relationships, building opportunity to create long term sustainable revenue growth.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as a commercial enabler for the Connected Solutions product roadmaps, working with Product, Design and Delivery teams to explore, test and validate new capabilities with customers through PoCs, pilots and demonstrations.
  • Build a deep understanding of customer needs within the Public Sector and translate these into clear use cases that shape product direction, propositions and routes to market.
  • Champion new and emerging solutions internally and externally, helping BT bring innovative capability into live customer environments and turn validated demand into sustainable revenue.
  • Develop and manage a focused pipeline of opportunities centred on early‑stage adoption, proof of value and scale‑up, from initial customer engagement through to commercial agreement.
  • Work closely with BT channel sales teams, providing specialist insight, market context and technical confidence to enable successful customer conversations and outcomes.
  • Lead customer and partner engagements to gather structured feedback, ensuring insight from the market informs product evolution, prioritisation and investment decisions.
  • Support deal orchestration and contract negotiations for new and evolving opportunities, working collaboratively across Commercial, Finance, Legal and Delivery teams.
  • Build trusted relationships with industry partners and customers to unlock collaboration, co‑creation and longer‑term growth beyond initial engagements.
  • Operate as a subject‑matter expert within your domain, representing BT credibly in customer forums, industry discussions and thought‑leadership activity.
  • Measure and manage progress through clear metrics (e.g. pipeline maturity, PoC conversion, revenue traction), ensuring learning and outcomes are visible and actionable.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Proven experience operating in a consultative, solution‑led role, working with customers to explore problems, validate use cases and shape early‑stage propositions before scale.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to assess opportunity value, develop viable business models and convert validated demand into sustainable revenue.
  • Experience supporting the introduction of new or evolving products into market, including customer trials, PoCs, demonstrations and early adoption.
  • Ability to translate customer insight into clear, actionable input for Product, Design and Delivery teams, influencing roadmap priorities and routes to market.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, able to build credibility with customers, partners and internal teams across technical, commercial and delivery disciplines.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast‑moving innovation environments, showing resilience, curiosity and judgement where solutions are still being formed.
  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience working with Public Sector customers and an understanding of their commercial, procurement and assurance environments.
  • Background in selling or commercialising technology‑led or emerging solutions rather than mature, commoditised products.
  • Experience working with partners to co‑create propositions or bring complementary capability to market.
