Why this job matters

The key purpose of this role is help build BT’s SMB Security portfolio and increase our presence and market-share in the UK. This is to support BT Security’s revenue growth ambitions before 2030 and beyond.


There is a significant opportunity in our UK domestic market unit to grow our security business and offer customers peace of mind. This role enables the launch of managed security services to be sold as either a standalone product or as part of a solution, integrated with fixed or mobile connectivity.


You will influence and directly input to our security roadmap for our small to medium sized customers, ensuring alignment into the wider UK Managed Security Services portfolio; and engaging with stakeholders across different channels, including Consumer. To do this, this role will importantly also include working with security partners / vendors and ensuring our existing portfolio continues to grow successfully.


The scale and pace of Security's growth ambitions require continued focus on the development of innovative initiatives and processes that push us beyond BAU; and empower us to meet our MTP and go beyond. With Security as a major growth engine of BT Group and a core part of BT’s 2030 ambition, and in this role you'll be front-and-centre to defining and enabling BT Security’s current and future success.

What you’ll be doing

• Be the subject matter expert; including competitive landscape tracking and customer insights generation, with a view to keeping BT security as a market leader.
• Input to 5 year portfolio strategy and annual planning.
• Decision maker for the portfolio including; launch, in-life, withdrawal and refresh product activities

• Business case development & approval, market based pricing, customer and vendor contractual documentation.
• Manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets in line with business approval, tracking spend against forecast.
• Define roadmap and launch products to time, quality and budget, following C2M process and adoption of agile methodologies.

• Ensure portfolio, service and features are built in a scalable way to sell and support at significant volume, without manual intervention, owning and influencing every step in the e2e customer journey for optimised sales.
• Look at digital transformation and use of digital to boost sales for small business security.
• Closely work with broader stakeholders to integrate security more closely into our connectivity services (fixed and mobile); and launch portfolio onto new strategic system stack.

• Identify and define value add managed service to differentiate BT product from competition, add proposition stickiness and enhance margin.
• Production of sales and customer collateral to maximise sales opportunities, and support of associated bids.
• Simplification of lead to cash, service delivery and assurance processes for products in-life, improving customer experience, optimising BT efficiency and reducing cost.

Experience Required

• Knowledge of the UK Security Market, particularly an understanding of Small Businesses operations and buying behaviours.
• Product Management, managed service and relevant commercial experience, spanning both new market launches (using both waterfall and agile methodologies) and in-life maintenance.
• Commercial acumen: Strong financial literacy and the ability to develop and present a Business Case, Market Based Pricing and heavily lead vendor contract and commercial negotiations.
• Ability to translate customer and market demand into product development and user experiences decisions, inc. requirements, and user stories. Plus using competitive analysis and customer insights to influence and validate portfolio plans.
• Track record of meeting commitments to tight timescales.
• Third party relationship management e.g. vendor management.
