About the role

The Product Professional supports the execution of the software engineering strategy and roadmap that supports BT's commercial strategy through cross functional project and technical delivery and the participation of a team that pursues innovation as well as demonstrating excellence in the product practice and enthusiasm for implementing the customary principles.
This role has the responsibility for identifying and delivering high value opportunities for technology to excite, simplify and transform our cloud native applications landscape, which are aligned to BT’s strategic vision. The role will work closely with other team members in a fixed capacity squad to build Product and continue to support those products through their lifecycle. This role demands a passion for stakeholder management, engaging with our customers (end-users) to develop user-centric and accessible products that make a real difference.

What you’ll be doing

• Supports on the implementation of HR products by framing a clear vision and strategy where there is new demand or opportunity to deliver high quality, high value experiences for our colleagues.
• Supports in the execution of technical decisions, technology choices and architecture for a wide range of high-performance products, capabilities, and platforms, effectively balancing short-term impact with long-term transformation.
• Supports the design and development of software solutions in accordance with the wider architecture and security standards.
• Supports with the designs of technical specifications and development of software solutions of smaller and /or less complex initiatives in partnership with team, contributing towards the quality of delivery.
• Establish the product vision and produce relevant objectives and key results for the development squads.
• Supports the delivery of an ambitious and compelling technical roadmap to meet the needs of the business, engineering team, and partner teams.
• May support product and operational excellence initiatives, assisting with implementing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement.
• Supports in the implementation of ways to improve working processes within the Product area of responsibility.
• As a Product Professional, you are responsible for the design and development of Digital’s strategic platforms in line with our customers needs.
• Be a collaborative in supporting engineers to deliver features to our internal customers via our cloud product suites.
• Actively seek feedback from our customers to help unlock value and remove issues in our product suite.
• Actively engage with the security and compliance teams to ensure what we deliver is fit for purpose.
• Evangelize our product principles to our stakeholders.
• Collaborating with other product leaders to contribute to company-wide best practices and standards.
• Interact with cross-functional teams to understand the business requirements and convert them into effective solutions.
• Work as part of an agile team to turn complex business needs into elegant solutions.
• Ensure the continued implementation of a test first approach, and implement the clean architecture principles.
• Enables prioritisation of key features with stakeholders using a range of techniques to establish value and business benefit

Essential Skills / Experience

Functional experience/skills
• Understanding of the HR function within a global corporate organisation including local HR legislation impacts on systems and processes.
• Understanding the needs and various processes of customers across a global organisation.
• Experience of working e2e across a service delivery value chain.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Clear thinker with vision, passion and energy.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to document and frame user needs into an organised backlog of requirements.
• Ability to organise a wide range of business requirements into a coherent, prioritised backlog.
• Clear understanding of how to articulate and measure value.

Technical experience/skills
• Excellent documentation and written communication skills.
• Ability to implement a range of cloud based technology solutions (AWS, SaaS, Google Cloud, Microsoft cloud services).
• Understanding of how to lead E2E delivery with an agile squad, including QC, change management and resource prioritisation.
• Agile methodology and Agile development

• Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation – to both technical and business audiences.
• Ability to understand various business perspectives as part of a Global organisation.

• Experience managing a backlog of problems and initiatives and ability to prioritise this workload.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Can provide a recommendation to complex customer problems.
• Ability to explain technical topics to non-technical people.
• Can gain consensus on the business outcomes and strategy.
