Strategic

  • Accountable for developing and delivering the savings pipeline, category strategies, and sourcing plans through effective planning and execution of sourcing, supplier, and risk management activities.
  • Build and maintain deep category expertise, applying best practices across sourcing approaches, supplier selection, total cost of ownership (TCO), and negotiation strategies.

Operational

  • Identify and deliver business improvements by leveraging commercial, design, and process levers to minimise total cost of ownership.
  • Collaborate with procurement colleagues and technical teams to execute category plans and sourcing activities, ensuring delivery against key performance metrics and alignment across business units.

  • Lead and deliver end-to-end sourcing projects, including complex commercial negotiations and contractual arrangements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed and implement category strategies across all levels of the organisation.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to secure alignment, drive engagement, and support delivery aligned to BT’s values.
  • Manage key supplier relationships, negotiating commercial and contractual terms to ensure performance, compliance, and continuous innovation.
  • Provide effective business partnering support across all business units, enabling informed decision-making and value delivery.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Experience: A minimum of seven years’ experience within a procurement environment, with strong sourcing capability and experience working effectively within high-performing teams.
  • Category Management Expertise: Strong category management experience, including knowledge of supplier capabilities, commercial models, product lifecycles, software licensing, and support and maintenance services.
  • Commercial and Strategic Delivery: Proven ability to manage complex commercial and strategic requirements, delivering projects to a high standard while balancing business and supplier priorities.
  • Senior Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management and influencing experience, with the ability to engage effectively at Senior Manager, Director, Managing Director and SMT level.
