Job Description

Job Req ID: 61018

About the role

This is not a traditional procurement role. As Procurement Manager for Marketing Procurement, you'll sit at the heart of some of the UK's biggest and most visible brands, helping shape how BT Group invests millions of pounds across marketing, creative, media, sponsorship, digital, research and customer engagement activities.

You'll support procurement strategy and commercial delivery across BT, EE and Plusnet, including some of the most exciting brand, sponsorship and customer acquisition programmes in the country. From major advertising campaigns and creative agency appointments to sports partnerships, digital transformation, production, content and media investments, you'll help ensure BT maximises value from every pound it spends.

The next few years represent a unique moment for BT Group. With the continued growth of EE as one of the UK's leading consumer brands, the relaunch of BT, and high-profile sponsorship activation opportunities around the Home Nations football teams and UEFA EURO 2028, you'll play a key role in enabling our marketing teams to move fast, innovate confidently and deliver outstanding customer outcomes.

We're looking for someone who combines commercial curiosity with strong stakeholder skills. You may already be an exceptional procurement professional looking to specialise in marketing, or an experienced marketing, agency or media professional who wants to build a career in commercial management and sourcing. If you're motivated by influencing decisions, solving problems and working on campaigns that millions of people see every day, we'd love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead sourcing and commercial activity across a broad portfolio of marketing categories, including creative agencies, media, sponsorship, production, social, digital, CRM, research, events, print and brand partnerships.
  • Develop and execute category strategies that support BT Group's commercial, customer and growth ambitions.
  • Deliver significant financial value through cost reduction, cost avoidance, commercial optimisation and supplier innovation opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Brand, Sponsorship, Finance, Legal and wider business stakeholders to influence decision-making and maximise value from third-party spend.
  • Manage end-to-end strategic sourcing activities, including supplier selection, tendering, negotiations, contracting and supplier performance management.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to stakeholders, balancing commercial rigour with pace, creativity and business outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships with leading agencies, media owners, production partners and marketing technology providers.
  • Use data, market intelligence and benchmarking to challenge existing ways of working and identify new opportunities.
  • Support delivery of BT's medium-term procurement pipeline, ensuring robust forecasting, planning and savings tracking.
  • Drive adoption of digital sourcing tools, AI-enabled procurement solutions and best-practice procurement methodologies.
  • Protect BT through strong commercial governance, contractual compliance, risk management and supplier oversight.
  • Contribute to our ambition of building the best marketing procurement team in any industry, recognised by stakeholders as engaged challengers, problem-solvers and trusted delivery partner

Essential Skills / Experience

  • High energy, proactive and self-motivated, with a strong bias for action and a track record of getting things done in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen gained in procurement, marketing, media, agency management or a related discipline, with the ability to identify opportunities, challenge constructively and deliver value
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to build trusted relationships, communicate with impact and confidently navigate complex organisations

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience in marketing, media, creative, sponsorship, digital or agency environments, and genuinely interested in how great brands are built.
  • Naturally curious, always asking "why?", challenging the status quo and looking for smarter ways to do things.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change, able to figure things out without needing a step-by-step instruction manual.
  • Strong negotiation instincts and commercial awareness, with the confidence to have robust conversations and make tough calls when needed.
  • Embraces technology, AI and data to work faster, better and more effectively rather than relying on traditional ways of working.
  • Team-first mentality with a good sense of humour, positive attitude and willingness to roll up their sleeves when the pressure is on.

BT Group is the UK’s leading communications group and the holding company behind some of the country’s most recognised brands – including BT, EE, Openreach and Plusnet. Our purpose is as simple as it is ambitious: we connect for good. Our customers include consumers, small, medium and large businesses, public sector organisations and other communications providers.

BT Group’s role is about setting direction, unlocking value and creating the conditions for our brands and businesses to thrive.

Having come through the most capital-intensive phase of our fibre investment, our focus now is on what comes next – simplifying how we operate, using technology and AI to work smarter, and organising ourselves to serve customers better and grow sustainably. Group teams shape strategy, policy, brand, capital allocation and transformation, helping the whole organisation perform at its best.

We have a singular culture that unites all our people: we are customer-first challengers, who are committed, clear and connected. These behaviours unite us as one team to deliver for our colleagues, our customers, our stakeholders and the country. Joining BT Group means working at the heart of a business that matters to the UK, with the opportunity to shape decisions, influence outcomes and help set the future course of one of the country’s most important companies.
