What you’ll be doing – your accountabilities

  • Assurance Delivery: Support the delivery of the centralised assurance plan of Priority Key Controls and the Group Risk Category (GRC) Framework controls, including subsequent assurance action tracking.
  • Self-assessment process: Support the coordination of the bi-annual Key Control self-assessment across all Units and GRCs.
  • Reporting: Support the delivery of consistent and high-quality reports giving visibility on the effectiveness of the Unit risk management and key control activities to Unit Leadership Teams, quarterly Risk and Controls updates, Quarterly Business Reviews and the Board.
  • GRC Support and Engagement: Provide guidance and support to the GRC Assurance Teams as needed.
  • Process and system enhancement: Support the ongoing enhancement of assurance processes and related system developments.

The skills you’ll need to succeed

  • Experience in control frameworks and carrying out assurance.
  • Communication skills. Clear communicator who is confident liaising with senior leaders and colleagues from across BT.
  • Self-starter. Ability to organise and prioritise time to deliver outcomes to agreed timescales.
  • Relationship building. Ability to build strong relationships both within and outside of the team.
  • Curiosity, particularly in terms of researching / suggesting and implementing new ways of working to enhance the efficiency of the team.

Experience you’d be expected to have

  • Experience in control testing, audit or assurance in organisations commensurate with the scale and complexity of BT.
  • Experience providing clear output to business leaders and oversight committees on the effectiveness of the control environment.
  • Understanding of external requirements in relation to risk, controls and assurance, in particular the UK Corporate Governance Code.

Eligibility CriteriaPlease note that as per the IJP guidelines for India, if you have an active PIP/Disciplinary sanctions then you cannot apply for a role internally for the duration of that sanction. In circumstances when you are in a disciplinary process but the outcome hasn’t been reached or there is an active appeal then you can apply, however, the Offer could be withdrawn if, subsequently, you’re issued with a sanction or your appeal is unsuccessful.
It is the responsibility of an applicant to not apply to IJP in case if they are on an active PIP/ Disciplinary case/ Warnings or sanction. If such an applicant is found to have applied for a role, then, strong disciplinary action will be taken against that applicant.

Please note that there is a pay freeze in effect for May & June so if your date of movement is either of these months, though you will receive a new contract letter in accordance to your new role preceding your movement, it will not reflect any pay changes. Any changes in your compensation due to internal movement during May & June be effective 1st of July 26 (post APR process has taken place in June) & you will be given another letter in June to communicate the same.

About the role

The Risk Manager manages a team to implement the Group's Risk Management framework, including enabling enhanced identification, mitigation / controls, governance, and oversight and reporting.

What you’ll be doing

1. Manages a team in executing the review of the Group's risk framework refining risk management and oversight processes, templates, and executive management reporting dashboards.
2. Facilitates the refining processes for regularised engagement with key risk owners and business sponsors and enable relevant management updates with respect to priority risks, mitigation actions.
3. Manages regular reporting of key risk developments and emerging risks as well as ongoing alignment of key risks to company goals and progress, for management and Board of Directors.
4. Maintains the development of crucial partnerships with functional leaders and assures effective ongoing alignment to the Group Risk Management Framework
5. Manages and maintains mechanisms to enable regular analysis of key business impacts / exposures based on existing and new or emerging threats, security / other risks, vulnerabilities, contributing to the development and maintenance of effective risk strategies and mitigation actions.
6. Manages teams in regularly assessing priority risk threats and effectiveness of controls, crisis identification / response / recovery plans and capabilities, both internal and at critical third-party vendors / supplier organisations, provides guidance on effectively managing the risk of ineffective capabilities, and influences decision making by educating business stakeholders on the risk.
7. Coaches talent, and manages others, to develop capabilities and ensure performance through upskilling, development and recruitment.
8. Implements ways to improve working processes within Risk.
