About the role

Working in the high-profile Group Commercial Finance team provides a fantastic opportunity to influence the execution of BT Group’s strategy. The Group Commercial Finance team supports the Group CEO, CFO, the BT Investment Board and other senior stakeholders to make key strategic decisions with the ultimate goal of maximising the long term returns on our investments.

This role provides commercial finance services to the Group leadership team and other key stakeholders across BT. You can expect to work on a wide variety of commercial business cases and will gain experience in all of our business units. What you’ll be doing

Working collaboratively with senior stakeholders to provide insight and support on pan-group investment decisions

Decision support for the BT Investment Board

    • Manage the agenda and scheduling of all BTIB meetings
    • Help provide independent appraisal and recommendations to the Group CFO for the biggest investment, customer bid, acquisitions and disposal decisions in BT
    • Build Group end to end analysis where required
    • Maintain all BTIB templates, documents and governance materials through the BTIB SharePoint
  • Manage the agenda and scheduling of all BTIB meetings
  • Help provide independent appraisal and recommendations to the Group CFO for the biggest investment, customer bid, acquisitions and disposal decisions in BT
  • Build Group end to end analysis where required
  • Maintain all BTIB templates, documents and governance materials through the BTIB SharePoint
  • Strategic pan-group investment cases
    • Manage Group business cases for investment decisions where impacts cut across more than one of our business units

  • Ad hoc support for the Group CFO - The Group Commercial finance team supports the Group CFO on a wide range of questions raised regularly as part of day to day activities
  • Investment case subject matter expert - support senior stakeholders across the Group to develop robust business cases using agreed principals and inputs

Essential Skills / Experience

Finance Qualification - CIMA, ACCA, ACA
Strong proficiency in business modelling and analysis skills within Excel leveraging financial and non-financial data
Ability to distil complex analysis into insight and recommendations
Strong written and verbal presentation skills and a keen eye for detail

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience with senior stakeholder management (finance and non-finance personnel)
  • Commercial thinking and ability to understand solutions from a business perspective
  • Demonstrable professionalism with a proven ability to operate in a complex, fast paced matrixed business environment
